Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is an emerging prion disease in Nordic countries and has been detected in reindeer, moose, and red deer since 2016. CWD sporadically detected in moose and red deer in 3 Nordic countries demonstrated pathologic and strain characteristics different from CWD in reindeer, including an unexpected lack of prions outside the central nervous system as measured by standard diagnostic tests. The distribution range of the taiga tick, Ixodes persulcatus, has increased in the last decade in Northern Europe. We performed samplings at nine locations in Nordland County, east and northeast of Brønnøysund, south of the Arctic Circle in July 2023. Four of 62 ticks collected were identified as I. persulcatus (one female, two males and one nymph), the remaining were identified as Ixodes ricinus (9 females, 2 males and 47 nymphs). The incidence of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) has increased over the last decades. The prevalence of NENs has to a lesser extent been previously reported. We wanted to study the trends in incidence and prevalence of NEN in Norway from 1993 to 2021 through the Cancer Registry of Norway. In a recent analysis of the effect of the complete advertising ban on alcohol in Norway, I found that the ban led to a decrease in recorded alcohol sales. Jon Nelson offers comments on this study in two regards; my critical comments on his previous study of alcohol advertising bans and the time series analysis in my study. Low iodine intakes have been documented in different population groups in Norway. We aimed to assess iodine status, dietary intake, supplement and macroalgae use, and iodine knowledge in vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. Using high-quality data from Norwegian population registers, we examine the relationship between family disruption and children's educational outcomes. We distinguish between disruptions caused by parental divorce and paternal death and, using a simultaneous equation model, pay particular attention to selection bias in the effect of divorce. We also allow for the possibility that disruption may have different effects at different stages of a child's educational career. Our results suggest that selection on time-invariant maternal characteristics is important and works to overstate the effects

BACKGROUND: To determine the characteristics of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in northern Norway, where the human leucocyte antigen HLA-B27 is prevalent.
METHODS: An observational study of patients with ICD-9 CR codes for psoriatic arthropathy (696.0 and 713.3) and spondylarthritis (720) seen during a 19-year period at a single regional rheumatology department. In patients with confirmed PsA demographics, date of onset of arthritis and psoriasis, clinical presentation and subsequent disease course (including therapeutic measures) were recorded during a mean follow-up of 11.1 years.

Samples of sewage influent from 40 sewage treatment works (STW) throughout Norway were examined for Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia duodenalis cysts. Both parasites were detected frequently (80% of STW were Cryptosporidium positive; 93% of STW were Giardia positive) and at maximum concentrations of > 20,000 parasites/liter.
