Shared PRAME Epitopes are T-Cell Targets in NUT Carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: NUT carcinoma is a rare but highly lethal solid tumor without an effective standard of care. NUT carcinoma is caused by bromodomain-containing NUTM1 fusion oncogenes, most commonly BRD4::NUTM1 . BRD4::NUTM1 recruits p300 to acetylate H3K27 forming expansive stretches of hyperacetylated chromatin called "megadomains" with the overexpression of corresponding oncogenes, including MYC . We hypothesized that transcriptional dysregulation caused by BRD4::NUTM1 would lead to the generation of cancer-specific antigens that could be therapeutically actionable. METHODS: We integrated genomi

p63-negative thoracic NUT carcinoma - A potential diagnostic pitfall.

NUT carcinoma is a rare, aggressive, undifferentiated carcinoma characterized by NUTM1 gene rearrangement. It was formerly termed NUT midline carcinoma due to its propensity to occur in midline anatomical structures. While initially believed to affect children and young adults predominantly, subsequent research has revealed its capacity to affect individuals of any age, without gender predilection. NUT carcinoma has been included in the 2015 WHO classification of thoracic tumors. NUT carcinoma can be difficult to distinguish from poorly differentiated tumors, often requiring immunohistochemist

18 F-FDG PET/CT in NUT Carcinoma of the Thorax.

NUT carcinoma (NUTc) is a rare, aggressive cancer characterized by rearrangement of the NUTM1 gene on chromosome 15q14. We present the case of a 32-year-old man with a persisting cough, reduced general condition, and B symptoms for 2 months. CT imaging revealed a highly suspicious mass in the right lung, infiltrating hilar structures, and the mediastinum. Staging with 18 F-FDG PET/CT demonstrated pathologic 18 F-FDG uptake within the tumor. Histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular analysis confirmed NUTc of the lung. Metabolic imaging modalities may play a key role in staging, restaging,

Physicochemical properties and sensory attributes of nut-based milk coffee.

Since the use of animal-based milk raises environmental concerns and health issues such as allergies and lactose intolerance, the demand for plant-based milk alternatives is growing. This study aimed to (1) develop nut-based milks-almond, cashew, hazelnut, and walnut-combined with Arabica espresso and (2) assess their physicochemical and sensory qualities. Oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids increased significantly in roasted nut-based milk coffees (p < 0.05). Particle size and viscosity were higher in nut-based coffees than in commercial milk (p < 0.05). Gas chromatography identified 33 vola

Chewing Doma (Fermented Betel Nut): Culture versus Cancer?

Dr. Amol PatelAreca nut consumption is embedded in many cultures, including that of Bhutan, several parts of India, and other South Eastern countries. Traditional fermenting of areca nut results in the production of what is called doma in Bhutan. The process enhances its carcinogenic potential and is tightly linked to oral and upper gastrointestinal cancers. As many as 45% of Bhutanese people chew doma. It is the number one cause of cancers of the oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, and larynx. We propose the slogan "Don't chew your way to cancer, say no to doma" would help in reducing oral

Zinc toxicosis in a cat associated with ingestion of a metal screw nut.

CASE SUMMARY: A 3-year-old female neutered domestic shorthair cat was presented for vomiting, inappetence and weight loss. The cat developed moderately regenerative anaemia, moderately increased alanine transaminase and alkaline phosphatase activities, hyperbilirubinaemia and prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time. Abdominal ultrasound identified gastric wall thickening and changes suggestive of pancreatitis. Gastroduodenoscopy identified a metal screw nut in the pylorus, which was removed with rat tooth forceps. Metal analysis and serum zinc concentration using leftover serum collect

Predictive factors of allergy to pistachio in children allergic to cashew nut.

BACKGROUND: Cashew nut (CN) allergy prevalence has increased over the last few years. In children allergic to CN, complete avoidance of pistachio is usually recommended, but recent study showed that only one third of children allergic to CN were also allergic to pistachio. The aim of our study was to identify predictive factors of allergy to pistachio in children allergic to CN. METHODS: All children who had a positive oral food challenge (OFC) to CN between November 2013 and October 2017 in the Paediatric Allergy Department of the University Hospital of Nancy were included. NUT midline carcinoma in a young pregnant female: a case report.

INTRODUCTION: The NUT midline carcinoma is a rare tumor mostly reported in the midline of upper aerodigestive tract and mediastinum. Children as well as adolescents are affected without a gender distribution. A standard treatment is not established. So far, there exists no reported case of a pregnant female suffering from NUT midline carcinoma with musculoskeletal manifestation. CASE PRESENTATION: A 34-year-old woman was referred to our outpatient clinic by the general practitioner during her 31st week of pregnancy suffering from shoulder pain and dyspnea. So far, dyspnea was interpreted as a

An Overview of Molecular Mechanism, Clinicopathological Factors, and Treatment in NUT Carcinoma.

NUT carcinoma (NC) is a rare and poorly differentiated tumor, with highly aggressive and fatal neoplasm. NC is characterized by chromosomal rearrangement involving NUTM1 gene, but lack of specific clinical and histomorphological features. It is more common in midline anatomic sites, such as head and neck, mediastinum, and other midline organs. NC may occur at any age, but mainly in children and young adults. In addition, male and female are equally affected. Most clinicians lack a clear understanding of the disease, and NC diagnostic reagents are still not widely used; therefore, misdiagnosis

Betel nut chewing, oral premalignant lesions, and the oral microbiome.

Oral cancers are attributed to a number of causal agents including tobacco, alcohol, human papillomavirus (HPV), and areca (betel) nut. Although betel nut chewing has been established as an independent cause of oral cancer, the mechanisms of carcinogenesis are poorly understood. An investigation was undertaken to evaluate the influence of betel nut chewing on the oral microbiome and oral premalignant lesions. Study participants were recruited from a dental clinic in Guam. Structured interviews and oral examinations were performed. Oral swabbing and saliva samples were evaluated by 454 pyrosequ

NUT midline carcinoma as a primary lung tumor: a case report.

NUT (nuclear protein in testis) midline carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor arising in midline structures, such as head, neck and mediastinum. In the 2015 WHO classification of lung tumours, it was categorized in "Epithelial tumors". However, because of limited clinical data, its biological features have not been fully recognized. We report a case of NUT midline carcinoma presented as a primary lung tumor. Pneumonectomy was performed without any neoadjuvant therapy and it turned out to be a gross total resection. Even so, the prognosis is poor with a disease-free survival of 2 months and an ov

BSACI guideline for the diagnosis and management of peanut and tree nut allergy.

Peanut nut and tree nut allergy are characterised by IgE mediated reactions to nut proteins. Nut allergy is a global disease. Limited epidemiological data suggest varying prevalence in different geographical areas. Primary nut allergy affects over 2% of children and 0.5% of adults in the UK. Infants with severe eczema and/or egg allergy have a higher risk of peanut allergy. Primary nut allergy presents most commonly in the first five years of life, often after the first known ingestion with typical rapid onset IgE-mediated symptoms. The clinical diagnosis of primary nut allergy can be made by

Effect of pistachio nut consumption on endothelial function and arterial stiffness.

OBJECTIVES: Previous studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of regular consumption of pistachio nuts on glycemic, lipid, and oxidative stress parameters. The aim of this study was to determine its effect on vascular health, which has not been adequately studied so far. METHODS: In this open label, randomized parallel-group study, 60 adults with mild dyslipidemia were randomized to lifestyle modification (LSM) alone or LSM with consumption of 80 g (in-shell) pistachios (equivalent to 40 g or 1.5 oz shelled pistachios) daily for 3 mo. Betel nut chewing and its deleterious effects on oral cavity.

The habit of chewing betel nut has a long history of use. Betel nut and products derived from it are widely used as a masticatory product among various communities and in several countries across the world. Over a long period, several additives have been added to a simple betel nut preparation; thus, creating the betel quid (BQ) and encompassing chewing tobacco in the preparation. Betel nut has deleterious effects on oral soft tissues. Its effects on dental caries and periodontal diseases, two major oral diseases are less well-documented. Betel-induced lichenoid lesions mainly on buccal mucosa

NUT gene rearrangement in a poorly-differentiated carcinoma of the submandibular gland.

NUT midline carcinomas (NMC) are a rare, recently described class of poorly-differentiated tumors that exhibit rapid onset and highly aggressive clinicopathologic behavior. These tumors are defined by rearrangement of the nuclear protein in testis (NUT) gene on chromosome 15q14, most commonly in a balanced translocation with the BRD4 gene on chromosome 19p13.1, resulting in the characteristic BRD4-NUT fusion gene and protein which blocks epithelial differentiation through chromatin binding. NMC frequently involve midline structures of adolescents and young adults and affect the head and neck r
