Platelet MAO activity: relationships to clinical and psychometric variables.

Platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity was measured in a group of hospitalized male psychiatric patients. The findings of this study confirm previous reports of: (1) reduced platelet MAO activity in patients with auditory hallucinations, (2) reduced platelet MAO activity in patients with alcoholism, and (3) a positive correlation between platelet MAO activity and a psychometric index of social introversion.

[Psychiatric and psychometric examinations in Raynaud's syndrome (author's transl)].

20 patients with Raynaud's syndrome were examined psychiatrically, 15 of them psychometrically as well (Giessen test, Freiburg personality inventory). Psychiatrically, there were neither psychoses nor manifest neuroses, but a chronic overconformity, emotional restraint and a compulsive, often stiff way of life were found as group-characteristic features. Psychometrically, the group-personality profiles lay within normal range. Psychopathologically, they showed contours, uncertain at best, of obsessional structure. Coincidence of psychic conflict situations due to chronically social influences

Psychological Intimate Partner Violence Across Identities: Preliminary Psychometrics of the Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Abuse-Short Form Among Heterosexual, Lesbian, and Bisexual Samples in Türkiye.

Psychological intimate partner violence (IPV) affects individuals across diverse sexual identities and is often reinforced by romantic myths. Despite its substantial mental health consequences, psychological IPV remains under-recognized and insufficiently researched. One barrier is the scarcity of brief, inclusive, and psychometrically sound tools for assessing psychological IPV across varied populations. To address this gap, the present study aimed to validate the short form of the Turkish version of the Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Abuse (MMEA-TR). This 16-item scale evaluates four

Depressive symptomatology in Brazil: perspectives of statistical and psychometrics analyses of the PHQ-9 at four time-points (2020-2023) in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The present research assessed the psychometric properties of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) through an examination of its internal structure, invariance analysis, and standardization. Social distribution analyses of the measure were conducted using linear and binomial logistic regression. The sample consisted of 10,069 adults from all 27 states in Brazil. The data were obtained through four collections across different years of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023), using independent samples. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) indicated that the measure is unidimension

Appraisals of DisAbility Primary and Secondary Scale-Short Form (ADAPSS-sf): Psychometrics and association with mental health among U.S. military veterans with spinal cord injury.

OBJECTIVE: Cognitive appraisals, that is, interpretations of what is observed and the personal relevance attributed to those observations, affect one's behavior and well-being. Despite the centrality of appraisals in the transactional model of stress and coping, the application of spinal cord injury (SCI)-specific appraisals to adjustment is a recent development. This study examined the psychometric properties of a measure of SCI-specific appraisals, the Appraisals of DisAbility Primary and Secondary Scale-Short Form (ADAPSS-sf). METHOD: A retrospective study using clinical data from SCI annu

Initial psychometrics, outcomes, and correlates of the Repetitive Body Focused Behavior Scale: Examination in a sample of youth with anxiety and/or obsessive-compulsive disorder.

BACKGROUND: Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), including skin-picking, hair-pulling, and nail-biting, commonly occur in youth, even at elevated/problematic levels, and are associated with a number of other psychiatric symptoms. The present study examined the internal consistency of a brief screening tool for BFRBs as well as the prevalence, severity, and correlates of BFRBs in a sample of youth with a primary anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). METHODS: Ninety-three youth-parent dyads presenting for treatment for anxiety or OCD completed study measures including the Repeti

Psychometric Evaluation of the Turkish Version of the Dental Fear Survey.

INTRODUCTION AND AIMS: Dental fear is an important barrier to dental attendance and may affect oral health behaviours, treatment acceptance and patient-centred care. The Dental Fear Survey (DFS) is a widely used multidimensional instrument. Although the DFS has previously been used in Turkish populations, comprehensive psychometric evidence for a systematically adapted Turkish version in adult clinical patients has remained limited. This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the DFS into Turkish and evaluate its psychometric properties. METHODS: The DFS was translated and culturally a

Columnwise neural imputation for incomplete ordinal psychometric data.

Missing data are pervasive in psychological and educational assessments. Naive remedies, including listwise deletion and item-mean imputation, often degrade research validity and misinform subsequent decisions. Recent advances in artificial neural networks have demonstrated their efficacy in prediction-related tasks by using observed features to infer unknown values. Building on this potential, we propose the columnwise neural imputation (COLNI) algorithm to impute missing ordinal responses in psychometric data. Simulation studies demonstrated that, when benchmarked against conventional method

Asthma Awareness Questionnaire: Development, Psychometric Validation, and Extent.

INTRODUCTION: Patient awareness extends beyond factual knowledge, encompassing emotional and cognitive engagement with the disease. As in other chronic diseases, it plays a critical role in asthma management. A comprehensive, validated tool for assessing this multifaceted construct in patients with asthma has been lacking. This study aimed to develop and validate the Asthma Awareness Questionnaire (AAQ) within the framework of the Mild/Moderate Asthma Network of Italy (MANI) study, a real-world, prospective, longitudinal cohort study involving adults diagnosed with mild-to-moderate asthma acco

Development and psychometric validation of the shoulder problems assessment scale.

BACKGROUND: Many shoulder patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) rely on response categories that may be difficult to interpret in routine care. OBJECTIVE: To develop and validate the 12-item Shoulder Problems Assessment Scale (SPAS), an activity-based PROM that uses a hierarchical stepwise yes/no format to identify the first threshold of difficulty during daily activities. METHODS: The study used a multicenter design combining qualitative item development with psychometric testing. Items were generated from patient interviews, literature review, and clinician input, then refined through

Psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Tendency for Interpersonal Victimhood.

This study validated the Italian version of the Tendency for Interpersonal Victimhood (TIV), originally developed by Gabay et al. (2020). The TIV assesses a personality trait across four dimensions: Need for Recognition, Moral Elitism, Rumination, and Lack of Empathy, which are crucial for understanding interpersonal dynamics and emotional regulation in various psychological contexts. Data from 1254 participants (56.5 % female, aged 18-70) confirmed a hierarchical model with one latent dimension and four method dimensions and high reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.84-0.91). Strong correlations wit
