BACKGROUND: Kaposi sarcoma (KS) remains a frequent cancer in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients starting combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). We examined incidence rates and risk factors for developing KS in different periods after starting cART in patients from European observational HIV cohorts.
METHODS: We included HIV-positive adults starting cART after 1 January 1996. We analyzed incidence rates and risk factors for developing KS up to 90 and 180 days and 1, 2, 5, and 8 years after cART start and fitted univariable and multivariable Cox regression models.

We examined the enhancing effect of antitumor activity by co-administration of 5-FU or its masked form (FT-207) with bases or nucleosides of purine and pyrimidine. It was found that the antitumor activity of 5-FU or FT-207 on sarcoma-180 and AH-130 tumor was oral administration of uracil, deoxyuridine, uridine, thymine or thymidine. BACKGROUND: More than 40 years ago, patients with tumors infiltrating the confluence of the hepatic veins were deemed unresectable; however, in situ hypothermic perfusion, first described by Fortner et al. (Ann Surg 180(4):644-652, 1974), allowed resection of these tumors. In order to prevent liver ischemia after total vascular exclusion, the liver was flushed with a cooled organ preservation solution.
