Move past adversity or bite through it? Diet quality, physical activity, and sedentary behavior in relation to resilience.

Adverse life experiences are associated with an increased risk of mental disorders. The successful adaptation to adversity and maintenance or quick restoration of mental health despite adversity is referred to as resilience. Identifying factors that promote resilience can contribute to the prevention of mental disorders. Lifestyle behaviors, increasingly recognized for their impact on mental health, are discussed as potential resilience factors. Several studies found that healthy eating and physical activity (PA) are positively associated with resilience. However, most of these studies assesse

Shared genes of polycystic ovary syndrome and sedentary behavior as a novel immune landscape biomarker for endometrial cancer.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is associated with significant risk factors such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and sedentary behavior. In our study, we aim to employ machine learning algorithms to investigate the potential molecular processes that underlie their interaction and explore their respective roles in the diagnosis and immunotherapy of EC. The GEO database provides access to microarray data, which was utilized in this study to identify gene expression modules associated with PCOS and sedentary behavior, using weighted gene expression network analysis (WGCNA). Cluego software was then

Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior among Young Adolescents in 68 LMICs, and Their Relationships with National Economic Development.

It is unclear whether physical activity and sedentary behavior are associated with economic development in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We aimed to assess the association between these two behaviors and country economic development among young adolescents in LMICs. Data came from the Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) conducted between 2009 and 2016 in 68 LMICs. A total of 180,298 adolescents aged 12-15 years were included; 15.3% of young adolescents achieved the recommended level for sufficient physical activity (≥60 min/day of physical activity of any kind per week

Sex and Gender Differences in Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior, and Sleep During Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery: A Narrative Review.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a complex neurological condition with enduring consequences that extend well beyond the initial insult. Once regarded primarily as an acute event, TBI is now increasingly recognized as a chronic disorder associated with cognitive, emotional, and physical impairments. These sequelae contribute to diminished quality of life and elevated long-term risks for adverse health outcomes. Despite growing awareness of its multifaceted nature, TBI recovery remains heterogeneous and is shaped by a range of individual-level determinants that remain insufficiently understood.

Physical activity, but not sedentary behavior, affects bone mineral density: Insights from a comprehensive genome-wide cross-trait analysis.

The shared genetic architecture linking physical activity, sedentary behavior, and osteoporosis risk remains unclear. We investigated the genetic basis, pleiotropic effects, and causal relationships between moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), leisure screen time (LST), and heel estimated bone mineral density (eBMD). Leveraging summary statistics from genome-wide association studies of European individuals (MVPA: N = 606,820; LST: N = 526,725; eBMD: N = 426,824), we conducted a genome-wide cross-trait analysis. A significant global genetic correlation was observed for MVPA and eBMD (

Causal effects of sedentary behavior and physical activity on the risk of musculoskeletal disorders: Evidence from Mendelian randomization analysis.

Previous studies have noted the associations of sedentary behavior and physical activity with several musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), yet the causality of these relationships remains unclear. In this study, we probed into the causal associations between sedentary behavior, physical activity, and the risk of 13 MSDs through Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. We obtained summary statistics for leisure screen time (LST) and moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for 2-sample univariable MR analysis. The linkage disequilibrium scor
