Phospholipid exchange protein from beef heart or beef liver does not catalyze the transfer of phosphatidylcholine from multilamellar vesicles of phosphatidylcholine. Certain combinations of phospholipids, however, do yield multilamellar vesicles that will exchange phosphatidylcholine with liposomes in the presence of exchange protein.
