BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is as frequent in women with intellectual disabilities as the general population, but the mammography uptake rate for women with intellectual disabilities is almost a third lower. This meta-synthesis aimed to explore physical and psychosocial barriers to mammography access for women with intellectual disabilities from the perspectives of the women themselves, healthcare professionals, paid carers and family members.
METHOD: A systematic search of six databases yielded 12 papers for thematic synthesis review.
RESULTS: Three analytic themes were developed: (i) knowing

CONTEXT: Black and Native American children in the United States experience disparities in serious illness care and outcomes which are compounded by systemic inequities. These disparities necessitate research approaches that center the voices of racially minoritized families, combat systems of oppression, and promote culturally humble care. Community-based participatory research (CBPR) emphasizes engaging affected communities throughout the research process.
OBJECTIVES: In this evaluation, we assessed the engagement of a stakeholder advisory board (SAB) convened to guide a study about racism

INTRODUCTION: Limited dementia awareness among culturally and linguistically diverse communities can exacerbate stigma and hinder support for carers and people at risk of or living with dementia. Co-producing a culturally inclusive dementia education intervention with representative stakeholders can address these knowledge and service gaps. This paper details the protocol for designing and evaluating a co-produced multilingual dementia education intervention named Dementia Friends Unite. This project aims to improve dementia knowledge, attitudes and supportive practices in a multicultural cont

Omitting outcomes of importance to patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and their caregivers from trials can impede decision making based on patient-centered outcomes. As part of the global Standardized Outcomes in Nephrology-Chronic Kidney Disease (SONG-CKD) initiative, we established a consensus-based set of core outcomes for trials in CKD (prior to the need for kidney replacement therapy). To finalize the proposed set of core outcomes that were identified through focus groups and an international Delphi survey, we convened 2 international stakeholder workshops in English and Spanish l

INTRODUCTION: New or returning antiretroviral therapy (ART) clients are largely ineligible for differentiated service delivery (DSD) models. These clients are at increased risk of treatment interruption and may benefit from flexible care models, but stakeholder buy-in may limit progress on interventions for this population. We qualitatively explored stakeholder perceptions and decision-making criteria for scaling DSD models for new or returning ART clients in Malawi. METHODS: We conducted in-depth interviews with internationally-based stakeholders (from foundations, multilateral organizations,

Autistic adolescents frequently encounter difficulties in managing changes associated with puberty, sexuality, and relationships, and parents may be a useful source of sexual and reproductive health education (SRE) for this population. Despite this, few evidence-based programs exist to support parents in this role. Thus, there is a need for the development of such programs, particularly those incorporating the lived experiences of key stakeholders. The present qualitative investigation aimed to determine the SRE needs of autistic youth and to inform a novel, parent-led SRE program. Data were c

BACKGROUND: Patients with occupational injuries often receive multidisciplinary rehabilitation for a rapid return to work. Rehabilitation aftercare programs give patients the opportunity to help patients apply the progress they have made during the rehabilitation to their everyday activities. Telerehabilitation aftercare programs can help reduce barriers, such as lack of time due to other commitments, because they can be used regardless of time or location. Careful identification of barriers, facilitators, and design requirements with key stakeholders is a critical step in developing a telereh

This study aimed to engage clinical and community stakeholders to create a prioritization matrix of interventions to reduce neonatal brain injury and improve neurodevelopmental outcomes. We collaborated with our community partner to establish a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG). Faculty performed a literature review to identify neonatal neuroprotective interventions; additional priorities from the LEAG were also included. Project leaders scored and presented intervention bundles for impact. Stakeholder priorities for value/feasibility were obtained via questionnaire. Mean values were incor

A central problem for the international governance of heritable germline gene editing is that there are important differences in attitudes and values as well as ethical and health care considerations around the world. These differences are reflected in a complicated and diverse regulatory landscape. Several publications have discussed whether reproductive uses would be legally permissible in individual countries and whether clinical applications could emerge in the context of regulatory gaps and gray areas. Systematic comparative studies that explore issues related to the governance of this te

BACKGROUND: For most rare diseases, which are often significantly under-resourced, sufficient information on funding landscape is missing, which may prevent effective use of research resources and be an obstacle to making effective decisions on research. The objective of this research was to create a database of Rett syndrome research projects carried out in the European Union (EU) and to provide a research landscape analysis.
METHOD: Websites of organizations funding research projects were identified and systematically checked. Projects were analysed by date, place, funder types, and researc

BACKGROUND: Schools are called upon to use data-informed practice to support student health and well-being. However, they face implementation challenges including data accessibility and literacy. Data dashboards offer a method to address these challenges, thereby promoting data-informed practice. This paper reports on a pilot of The School Health Research Network Data Dashboard with secondary schools.
METHODS: The Dashboard was piloted by three secondary schools (recruited by size; free school meal entitlement) in Wales, UK. Interviews with school staff (N = 7) and public health practitioners

Effective human resource management (HRM) is a dominant topic of interest owing to its crucial role in both health production and service provision. Despite the recognition of the fundamental Strategic HRM (SHRM) practices, the intellectual structure and direction of research is yet to be fully developed, integrated and practically evolved in response to contemporary developments. Therefore, this study analyses the knowledge structure and evolution of HRM issues and practices in internal stakeholder management (ISM) within healthcare. In this study, we conduct a bibliometric analysis of 477 ar

BACKGROUND: India faces a growing need for Palliative Care due to its ageing population, rising cancer burden, and high prevalence of chronic illnesses. Unfortunately, less than 4% of the population has access to Palliative services, and the country ranks 59th in the 2021 Quality of Death Index. Contextually relevant and culturally sensitive nursing competencies are crucial to address this gap. However, there is no structured, evidence-based palliative nursing competency framework tailored to India's sociocultural and healthcare realities. This study explored stakeholder perspectives to identi

BACKGROUND: Youth with intellectual disabilities are at increased risk of developing anxiety disorders. Adapted CBT shows potential for youth with intellectual disabilities, but evidence for effectiveness is limited and mixed, urging the need for further optimisation. This study aims to develop a peer-mentored CBT intervention, together with and for youth with mild-to-borderline intellectual disability and anxiety, based on scientific evidence, clinical expertise and patient preferences.
METHODS: In the intervention development phase, 40 stakeholders (youth with intellectual disability, paren

BACKGROUND: Implementing guideline-based diabetes prevention programs (DPPs) for women with recent gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is critical, given the global rise in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and the established association between GDM and subsequent diabetes risk. Implementing new healthcare programs, however, is inherently challenging, as success depends on the engagement and commitment of frontline providers. Determining stakeholders' readiness for change was therefore critical before implementing a postpartum DPP for patients with recent GDM.
METHOD: We conducted a cross-sectional surv

BACKGROUND: With the growing number of people requiring long-term care in Germany, not only is the prevalence of chronic diseases increasing, but oral health is also deteriorating. Many older adults with functional impairments who live at home can no longer maintain their oral hygiene independently and therefore rely on caregivers. Consequently, the quality of oral care often depends these caregivers. However, as oral health care in the outpatient setting involves multiple stakeholders - including dentists, dental assistants, general practitioners, professional and family caregivers- the fragm
