Randomized double-blind crossover trial of a transdermal maltose dissolvable microneedle patch for topical anesthesia before intravenous cannulation for thalassemia children.

The efficacy and safety of transdermal dissolvable microneedle array patch (MNAP) in enhancing topical anesthesia delivery was studied in transfusion-dependent thalassemia children who had intravenous cannulation (IVC) for blood transfusion. We also compared the use of skin conductance algesimeter index (SCAI) as a pain assessment tool against the visual analog score (VAS) in these children with ages between 6 and 17 years, who had the topical anesthetic cream (EMLA) applied on the hand dorsum before IVC. This was a double-blind, randomized crossover trial involving 19 children with each child

Transdermal delivery of insulin by amidated pectin hydrogel matrix patch in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats: effects on some selected metabolic parameters.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

PURPOSE: Studies in our laboratory are concerned with developing optional insulin delivery routes based on amidated pectin hydrogel matrix gel. We therefore investigated whether the application of pectin insulin (PI)-containing dermal patches of different insulin concentrations sustain controlled release of insulin into the bloodstream of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats with concomitant alleviation of diabetic symptoms in target tissues, most importantly, muscle and liver. METHODS: Oral glucose test (OGT) responses to PI dermal matrix patches (2.47, 3.99, 9.57, 16.80 µg/kg) prepare

Improving postoperative analgesia in hallux valgus surgery: oral opioids suppression by addition of a single transdermal fentanyl patch: a prospective evaluation.

The last decade there is an exponential increase in opioid related deaths. This is proven to be correlated with the rising medical prescription rates of strong opioids. We investigated whether pain after hallux valgus surgery under popliteal nerve block could be adequately controlled without the prescription of oral opioids, with a single transdermal fentanyl patch. In this prospective observational study with 100 patients undergoing corrective first metatarsal osteotomies we prospectively investigated the adverse effects and need for extra pain medication. The transdermal fentanyl patch was a

Development and Characterization of Transdermal Patches Using Novel Thymoquinone-L-Arginine-Based Polyamide Nanocapsules for Potential Use in the Management of Psoriasis.

Thymoquinone (TQ) is a phytochemical compound present in Nigella sativa and has potential benefits for treating dermatological conditions such as psoriasis. However, its clinical use is limited due to its restricted bioavailability, caused mainly by its low solubility and permeability. To overcome this, a new transdermal drug delivery system is required. Nanoparticles are known to enhance material solubility and permeability, and hence, this study aimed to synthesize TQ-loaded L-arginine-based polyamide (TQ/Arg PA) nanocapsules incorporated into transdermal patches for prolonged delivery of TQ

Protein-Capturing Microgel-Integrated Microneedle Array Patches for Enhanced Tip-Loading, Storage Stability, and Transdermal Delivery of Recombinant Proteins.

Microneedles have gained increasing attention as an ideal device for transdermal drug delivery; however, their application to proteins has been a challenging task because of their inadequate tip-loading and unsatisfactory stability. Herein, we report the development of a microgel-integrated microneedle array patch (MI-MAP) capable of not only localizing protein cargoes in the tip portion but also stabilizing them via protein-phenolic interactions. Incorporation of protein-capturing microgels allows enrichment of protein cargoes within the tip region of microneedles, resulting in a significant

Chitosan-based dual-release core-shell microneedle patches for sequential transdermal delivery of hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs: An in vitro approach.

Drug release using polymeric microneedles (MNs) plays a significant role in medical applications and the treatment of various diseases. However, conventional MNs are often limited by complex fabrication procedures and inadequate mechanical strength. This study introduces a dual-function core/shell MN patch fabricated through a novel method that integrates 3D printing and casting techniques. The patch features two distinct layers: a rapid-release shell and a sustained-release core, enabling controlled delivery of therapeutics over different timeframes within a single application. The shell laye
