Implementing incentives in family medicine for opioid use disorder treatment: a qualitative inquiry on provider and patient preferences for a low magnitude reward program compatible with buprenorphine treatment.

BACKGROUND: Incentive programs are an effective yet underutilized behavioral intervention that can improve outcomes in medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment. Contingency Management (CM) is a rigorous incentive program run per seven evidence-based principles (e.g. objectively verifiable target behaviors, frequent opportunities for incentives). Prior implementation attempts have focused on implementing CM in specialized addiction clinics with methadone as the primary medication treatment. However, many people get MOUD from less specialized, more accessible family medicine clinics.

Evaluating a biochemical TB medication adherence test: Insights from image-based reporting through a patient companion app.

Tuberculosis (TB) treatment requires strict adherence over the long course of treatment. To support adherence, we developed the TB Treatment Support Tools (TB-TST), which combines a urine-based lateral flow assay (LFA) with a mobile application for patient education, support, and communication with treatment supporters. In a pragmatic randomized controlled trial participants uploaded images of the LFA. A blue-purple color change indicates detection of an isoniazid metabolite consistent with recent medication ingestion. This study assessed real-world interpretability and usability of the TB-TST

User profiles and personas in the design and development of consumer health technologies.

BACKGROUND: "The graying of the globe" has resulted in exponential rise in health care expenses, over-worked health care professionals and a growing patient base suffering from multiple chronic diseases, one of which is diabetes. Consumer health technologies (CHT) are considered important catalysts for empowering health care consumers to take a proactive role in managing their health and related costs. Adoption rate and usability of such devices among the aging is far from being satisfactory. Past studies noted the motivation for adoption by the aging is dependent on the suitability/relevance,
