Intraocular infection due to Blastomyces dermatitidis is rare, and only 10 cases have previously been reported. Manifestations of ocular blastomycosis can range from keratitis to panophthalmitis, and it is often difficult to diagnose ocular blastomycosis early. We report the case of a 45-year-old man who had disseminated blastomycosis that involved the lungs, skin, and ocular uvea and who was successfully treated with systemic and local antifungal therapy. We also review the literature describing the spectrum of clinical findings due to intraocular blastomycosis.

Orbital Cellulitis is a dreaded ophthalmologic disease. It may destroy vision and the eye and may even become life threatening. Often visual loss is the result of exposure and subsequent destruction of ocular tissue commonly the cornea and the uvea. We report a case of combined central retinal artery and vein occlusion complicating orbital cellulitis in a 35 year old patient who was 37 weeks pregnant resulting in loss of vision in the affected eye. There have been few case reports of this type of complication of orbital cellulitis.

Intraocular Candida infections, although uncommon, represent an important clinical problem owing to the potential for visual loss, which can be bilateral. PURPOSE: To evaluate the mechanism of formation of the transient shallow anterior chamber in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome.
METHODS: Two patients with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome with shallow anterior chambers were examined with an ultrasound biomicroscope.
RESULTS: A ciliochoroidal detachment, which was not obvious on ophthalmoscopic examination, was clearly demonstrated in both patients by ultra-sound biomicroscopy. The detachment disappeared after systemic corticosteroid therapy.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic disease of the central nervous system in Germany. In 80 % of patients early stages of the disease are characterized by a clinically isolated episodic course. Ocular manifestations are common and mostly affect the optic nerve or the uvea and in some cases the retinal vessels. Here we report on a bilateral retinal vasculitis as the first manifestation of MS in a 27-year-old patient. All symptoms resolved after high dose steroid treatment; however, intensive follow-up is crucial due to potential occlusive, ischemic complications.

400 patients presenting with active inflammation of the conjunctiva, sclera, orbita, uvea or retina were cANCA negative during active disease, however, pANCA were found in 15%. Another group of 100 patients suffering from Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) showed in 72 cases one or multiple ocular inflammatory symptoms. They were frequently cANCA-positive. Various ocular structures (iris, ciliary body, choroid, retina, sclera, optic nerve) were enucleated from human eyes suffering endophthalmitis, perforative wounds of cornea and/or sclera, or uncontrolled glaucoma, and were tested for their histamine content.
