OBJECTIVES: Impostor syndrome (IS) is a psychological state whereby individuals doubt their abilities despite evidence of competence. Though IS has been studied in specific medical groups, no review to date compares findings across groups. This study aimed to: (1) determine the range of IS rates among medical undergraduates versus postgraduates and (2) examine associated factors across both groups.
DESIGN: This scoping review used the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews, using a five-step framework.

BACKGROUND: Adolescent depression and anxiety are highly prevalent, recurrent, and disabling mental health conditions. Current treatment outcomes are suboptimal, often leaving young people with residual symptoms and high relapse rates. To inform future development of more effective preventative strategies, the Emotional Vulnerability in Adolescents (EVA) study aimed to identify vulnerability markers for adolescent depression and anxiety. Specifically, it examined the associations between mental health outcomes and potentially modifiable biopsychosocial factors. The present report provides an o

INTRODUCTION: Sensory hypersensitivity (SHS) refers to an increased sensitivity to sensory stimuli, often leading to sensory overload and adversely affecting daily functioning and well-being. This study examined the effects of three situational triggers - noise, time pressure, and cognitive load - on task performance, sensory overload, and fatigue. Additionally, we sought to explore the associations between these effects and SHS, while accounting for other influencing factors such as personality, coping mechanisms, and anxiety.
METHOD: We experimentally tested 105 university students, employi

BACKGROUND: This study aims to describe the global burden of female infertility, analyze its spatial and temporal trends, and offer targeted epidemiological insights to support the prevention and management of female infertility.
METHODS: Drawing on insights from the GBD 2021 study, we analyzed age-standardized prevalence rates (ASPR) of female infertility (1990-2021) across global regions and Socio-Demographic Index (SDI) categories. We quantified temporal trends using estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) and Age-Period-Cohort analyses across age groups and geographic regions. Furthermo

BACKGROUND: Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), including Functional Cognitive Disorder (FCD), are two frequently encountered but diagnostically complex conditions. While PCS is conceptualized as a sequela of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), FND/FCD encompasses symptoms incompatible with recognized neurological disease, often arising in the absence of structural brain damage. Yet, both conditions exhibit considerable clinical overlap-particularly in the domains of cognitive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation, and symptom persistence despite negative

BACKGROUND: The incidence of obesity has significantly increased worldwide. However, it is still unclear about the genetic susceptibility of obesity.
METHODS: Here we performed the largest European meta-analysis of genome-wide association study, including 98,421 obesity cases and 2,108,019 healthy controls.
RESULTS: We identified 322 novel genome-wide significant obesity-associated loci and 23 of 32 known loci. SNP-based heritability analyses revealed that common variants explain 17.19 ± 0.59% of genetic risk for obesity, whereas MiXeR predicted an estimated 1.6 million effective sample size

Brain structure correlates of obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) remain poorly understood as limited OCPD assessment has precluded well-powered studies. Here, we tested whether machine learning (ML; elastic net regression, gradient boosting machines, support vector regression with linear and radial kernels) could estimate OCPD scores from personality data and whether ML-predicted scores are associated with indices of brain structure (cortical thickness and surface area and subcortical volumes). Among older adults (ns = 898-1,606) who completed multiple OCPD assessments, ML elasti

BACKGROUND: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are pervasive and exert enduring negative effects on health throughout one's life. A better understanding of resilience among adolescents with ACEs exposure is crucial to enhance their mental health; however, comprehensive and multifaceted analyses of its associated factors are limited.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate multi-level correlates of psychological resilience in Chinese early adolescents exposed to ACEs.
PARTICIPANTS AND SETTING: In a sample of 5724 middle school students, 65.5 % (n = 3749; 49.1 % females; Mage = 13.57, SD

Background Workplace bullying is persistent aggressive behavior, including verbal or physical abuse, exhibited in a working environment. The impact of workplace bullying in any industry leads to negative outcomes in multiple dimensions, such as issues with mental health, problems with physical health, and a reduction in productivity in the workplace. This study aims to measure the relationship between personality traits and workplace bullying victims. Moreover, it explores how personality traits predict being a victim of workplace bullying. Methodology A cross-sectional study was conducted amo

BACKGROUND: Understanding the diverse factors influencing physical activity-related injuries is crucial for developing effective interventions that enable individuals to participate in physical activity (PA) while minimizing injury risk. Currently, research evidence on the multiple factors associated with PA-related injuries is inadequate. This study aimed to examine the associations between PA-related injuries and various biological, psychological, and social factors among first-year university students in China.

The severity of the pandemic and its consequences on health and social care systems were quite diverse and devastating. COVID-19 was associated with an increased risk of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders after SARS-CoV-2 infection. We did a cross-sectional study of 3 months post-COVID consequences of 178 Cuban subjects. Our study has a unique CUBAN COVID-19 cohort of hospitalized COVID-19 patients and healthy subjects. We constructed a latent variable for pre-health conditions (PHC) through Item Response Theory (IRT) and for post-COVID neuropsychiatric symptoms (Post-COVID-NPS) throu

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the psychological wellbeing of some people, there is evidence that many have been much less affected. The Ecological Model of Resilience (EMR) may explain why some individuals are not resilient whilst others are. In this study we test the EMR in a comparison of UK survey data collected from the COVID-19 Psychological Research Consortium (C19PRC) longitudinal study of a representative sample of the United Kingdom (UK) adult population and data from an Italian arm of the study. We first compare data from the third wave of the UK arm of the study, colle

Although large genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of major depressive disorder (MDD) have identified many significant loci, the SNP-based heritability remains notably low, which might be due to etiological heterogeneity in existing samples. Here, we test the utility of targeting the severe end of the MDD spectrum through genome-wide SNP genotyping of 2725 cases who received electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for a major depressive episode (MDE) and 4035 controls. A subset of cases (n = 1796) met a narrow case definition (MDE occurring in the context of MDD). Standard GWAS quality control proc
