BACKGROUND: Genitourinary Mycoplasma (Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, and Mycoplasma genitalium) is a common pathogen among women, which can cause funisitis, spontaneous abortion, and low birth weight. However, current laboratory testing methods for genitourinary mycoplasma normally need complex processes, expensive devices, and qualified staffs, and there are many limits for application. Up to now, the LAMP method is a rapidly developing field because of the significance for clinical application and commercial value. Few studies have reported the use of mLAMP to detect UU, MH, and

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative and motile bacterium that colonizes the hostile microniche of the human stomach, then persists for the host's entire life, if not effectively treated. Clinically, H. pylori plays a causative role in the development of a wide spectrum of diseases including chronic active gastritis, peptic ulceration, gastric adenocarcinoma, and gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. Due to the global distribution of H. pylori, it is no exaggeration to conclude that smart strategies are contributing to adaptation of the bacterium to its permanent ho

BACKGROUND: Infection with CagA-positive Helicobacter pylori may be diagnosed by detecting cagA gene by polymerase chain reaction assay (PCR) or serum antibodies against CagA by Western blot analysis. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether results of PCR and Western blot analysis are in agreement in CagA status assessment.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty-six dyspeptic patients with unknown H. pylori status underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to assess the presence of mucosal lesions and to collect six gastric biopsies (three from the antrum and three from the body) for evaluation of

Hyperammonemia has been reported rarely in the pediatric age group in systemically ill patients. All cases resulted from infections with urea splitting organisms, which are more common among patients who have undergone surgical procedures on the urinary tract. The authors report for the first time in the pediatric literature, one patient who presented with hyperammonemic encephalopathy that resulted from urinary tract infection with Staphylococcus epidermidis and Corynebacterium sp.

The sustainable production of bamboo shoots is jeopardized by current management practices, including the use of winter mulches and the application of large quantities of nitrogen fertilizer. Many bamboo plantations exhibit premature aging and reduced shoot yields, primarily linked to oxygen deprivation in the rooting zone from mulching practices but also associated with soil acidification. The mulching is undertaken to raise soil temperatures, encouraging earlier shoot growth, but it leads to a decline in shoot production and the practice is clearly unsustainable. We examined whether the use

The remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and lead co-contaminated soils in karst regions remains challenging because of strong soil buffering capacity, complex metal speciation, and the distinct transformation mechanisms of organic pollutants and heavy metals. Although urea and biochar are widely used as soil amendments, their interactive effects on plant-assisted remediation and the associated rhizosphere microbial and metabolic mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, urea and biochar were co-applied in a ryegrass pot experiment to evaluate their synergistic effects on the remedia

BACKGROUND: The most common cause of acid-peptic diseases (APDs) is Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) infection. Conventionally, proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used to manage hyperacidity and dyspepsia. PPIs' persistent use can lead to bacterial resistance, side effects, poor quality of life (QoL), and increased economic burden. H. pylori, being microaerophilic, can be inhibited by gut aeration. Therefore, yogic gut aeration techniques (YGATs) may be a potential option to mitigate H. pylori-induced APDs and reduce medication doses and economic burden.
OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to determine

Helicobacter pylori is a main pathogen that infects nearly half of the global population and is threatening public health due to its increasing antibiotic resistance. Besides, Helicobacter pylori is also responsible for chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastric carcinoma, and gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Therefore, it is essential to perform a timely and accurate diagnosis of H. pylori and the determination of its antibiotic resistance. Nowadays, existing methods of H. pylori diagnosis mainly include the rapid urease test (RUT), the urea breath test

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is widely prevalent worldwide, with approximately 50% of the global population having a history of H. pylori infection. In China, the infection rate ranges from 40% to 70%. H. pylori is primarily associated with gastrointestinal diseases such as chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers. Currently, the clinical treatment for H. pylori infection involves either triple or quadruple therapy. However, the extensive use of antibiotics has led to the development of antibiotic resistance in H. pylori. Therefore, detecting both H. pylori and its antibiotic

The huge amount of urea applied has necessitated best-developed practices to slow down the release of nitrogen (N) fertilizer while minimizing nitrate loss. However, the impact of nitrification inhibitors on mineral-N turnover and the associated microbial mechanisms at different stages remains unknown. A 60-day incubation experiment was conducted with four treatments: no fertilizer (CK), urea (U), urea with copper pyrazole (UC), and urea coated with copper pyrazole (SUC), to evaluate the changes about soil ammonia N ( N H 4 + -N) and nitrate N ( NO 3 - -N) levels as well as in soil microbia

Patients with a long-standing history of immunosuppression are at significantly increased risk of opportunistic infections. One such group of organisms that may cause these types of infections includes the Nocardia genus, a gram-positive, filamentous rod that demonstrates a branching pattern, is urease-producing and has acid-fast properties. The disease profile of Nocardia varies with manifestations ranging from cutaneous infection to severe pulmonary or central nervous system (CNS) infections, and rarely, osteomyelitis. In this case report, we present an 87-year-old female with persistent lef

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) classified as a class I carcinogen by the World Health Organization (WHO) plays an important role in the progression of chronic gastritis and the development of gastric cancer. A major bioactive component of Evodia rutaecarpa, evodiamine, has been known for its anti-bacterial effect and anti-cancer effects. However, the inhibitory effect of evodiamine against H. pylori is not yet known and the inhibitory mechanisms of evodiamine against gastric cancer cells are yet to be elucidated concretely. In this study, therefore, anti-bacterial effect of evodiamine on H. p

Salinity stress is one of the most harmful abiotic stresses that inhibit crop growth and grain yield. In this study, a salt-tolerant bacterium was isolated from the soil of the rice rhizosphere and named Myroides sp. JIL321, based on the results of the phylogenetic tree analysis. The strain JIL321 tolerated up to 1, 283.37 mM of NaCl and exhibited positive plant growth-promoting traits, such as the production of indole acetic acid (IAA) and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase. Therefore, the effects of JIL321 on rice (Oryza sativa L.) under salinity stress were determined. The in

Present study is specially designed for the recent advances in biosensors to detect and quantify urea concentration. Urea (carbamide) is an organic compound made up of the carbonyl (C=O) functional group with two -NH2 groups having chemical formula CO (NH2 )2 . In nature, urea is found everywhere as the result of various processes, and in the human body, urea is an end product of nitrogen metabolism. An excessive concentration of urea in the human body is responsible for different critical diseases such as indigestion, acidity, ulcers, cancer, malfunctioning of kidneys, renal failure, urinary
