Acne fulminans (AF) is a rare and severe form of inflammatory acne presenting clinically with an abrupt outburst of painful, hemorrhagic pustules and ulceration, that may or may not be associated with systemic symptoms, such as fever, polyarthritis, and laboratory abnormalities. OBJECTIVE: To further characterize clinical characteristics, etiologic factors, associated disorders, and treatment of palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of patients with PPP at Mayo Clinic between January 1, 1996, and December 31, 2013.
RESULTS: Of 215 patients with PPP identified, 179 (83%) were female, and the mean age at onset was 45.3 years. Most patients (n=165, 77%) were current or former smokers. We reviewed 21 patients with Mason type-III fractures of the radial head treated by resection, evaluating the results at 16 to 30 years by a standard questionnaire and clinical and radiological examination of the elbow and wrist. Seventeen patients had an excellent result, three were good and one fair. Resection of the radial head is a satisfactory method of treatment of such fractures. Prosthetic replacement seems to be indicated only when there is valgus instability of the elbow.

Extrinsic airway compression secondary to vertebral osteophytes is a rare clinical entity. Ankylosing spondylitis is a rather uncommon condition in the UAE. Over a period of 10 years. 28 hospital-based patients diagnosed as having AS were retrospectively studied. They included 17 Arabs and 11 Asians. The onset of AS in most patients in this study was in adulthood (mean age at onset was 27.7 years in Arabs and 28.75 years in Asians). HLA B27 was positive in 56 and 81% in these two populations, respectively (P > 0.05). Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) M6 is a rare form of AML accounting for < 5 % of all AML. Extramedullary involvement is very rarely seen in this entity. Skeletal lesion has not been described in AML M6 before. We discuss the case of a 17 year old boy with AML M6, who presented with osteolytic lesion of right humerus. He was treated with induction and consolidation chemotherapy. The present case is the first report in literature of AML M6 presenting with skeletal lesions.
