Patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy often suffer from oral complications as a result of their disease and its treatment. The effects of the chemotherapy on the bone marrow and oral mucosa, coupled with the patient's immunosuppressed state and altered oral microbial flora, predispose these patients to oral mucositis, infection, and hemorrhage. The oral mucosa appears to mirror the effects of the chemotherapy on the bone marrow, as there appears to be a direct relationship between the changing peripheral blood counts and the status of the oral mucosa.

INTRODUCTION: Recognition of anatomic variations is a challenge for clinicians regardless of which tooth is treated. Maxillary premolars usually have 2 root canals, but the presence of 3 distinct root canals has been reported in 1%-6% of cases.
METHODS AND RESULTS: This report describes the case of a maxillary right second premolar with 4 separate canals: 1 mesial, 1 palatal, and 2 distal canals. This was confirmed by using cone-beam computed tomography and was successfully treated with rotary files and obturated by using a warm vertical compaction technique.

A prospective outcome study of periradicular surgery using microsurgical techniques and root-end filling with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) was performed. This case report describes the treatment of a skeletal Class III malocclusion with autotransplantation of a cryopreserved tooth. To gain an esthetic facial profile and good occlusion, extraction of bimaxillary premolars and surgical therapy were chosen. INTRODUCTION: The proinflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-1 is a key regulator of host responses to microbial infection and a major modulator of extracellular matrix catabolism and bone resorption. Allele2 of IL-1β is associated with a four-fold increase in IL-1β production. This study examined the effect of various zinc oxide materials as root-end fillings of teeth in a replantation model. A total of 35 molar teeth were used from 19 monkeys.
