Efficacy and safety of auricular acupressure for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy among patients with breast cancer: a study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a frequently-reported distress symptom in breast carcinoma patients under chemotherapy. Although previous studies emphasized lack of ideal neuroprotective or therapeutic agents for CIPN, there are no strongly recommended treatments. Nevertheless, auricular acupressure (AA) is a novel remedy for controlling symptoms in many healthcare settings. However, therapeutic effects of AA among patients with CIPN have not yet been elucidated fully. Therefore, we designed a trial to examine the effectiveness and safety of AA in breast cancer

Comparing the efficacy of therapeutic Thai acupressure on plantar acupoints and laser cane therapy on freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease: a randomized non-inferiority trial.

BACKGROUND: ON-freezing of gait (ON-FOG) in Parkinson's disease (PD), often resistant to medication, is linked to sensory deficits and proprioceptive impairment, and results in falls and reduced life quality. While visual cues from a laser cane (LC), which rapidly accesses the motor cortex, are commonly used to compensate for proprioceptive impairment, increased visual reliance may be affected by disease progression. Emerging evidence suggests that modulation of peripheral sensory processing may alleviate ON-FOG, and therapeutic Thai acupressure (TTA) may be a solution. This study aims to eval

Self-treatment of freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease patients using silicone pads to apply Thai acupressure to plantar acupoints: A randomised, controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Freezing of gait (FOG) involves dysfunction of the motor and sensory systems. Peripheral sensory stimuli, including Thai acupressure, can improve proprioceptive function and decrease FOG episodes. Here, we sought to determine the efficacy of acupressure as a self-treatment to alleviate FOG in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). METHODS: We conducted an open-label, controlled trial of 60 PD patients with FOG while medicated, randomised into two groups: an active-treatment group using silicone pads to apply pressure to plantar acupoints on the head of the big toe and the base

The efficacy of P6 acupressure with sea-band in reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing craniotomy: a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study.

BACKGROUND: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a multifactorial problem after general anesthesia. Despite antiemetic prophylaxis and improved anesthetic techniques, PONV still occurs frequently after craniotomies. P6 stimulation is described as an alternative method for preventing PONV. The primary aim of this study was to determine whether P6 acupressure with Sea-Band could reduce postoperative nausea after elective craniotomy. Secondary aims were to investigate whether the frequency of vomiting and the need for antiemetics could be reduced. METHODS: In this randomized, double-blind

Efficacy and safety of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation and acupressure in alleviating chemotherapy-related adverse reactions in female patients with breast cancer: a randomized clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Common adverse reactions to breast cancer chemotherapy (nausea, vomiting, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression) are often suboptimally managed. These symptoms undermine patients's quality of life and reduce chemotherapy adherence. Two non-invasive Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) interventions-transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) and acupressure have demonstrated efficacy in alleviating such discomforts, data on their effectiveness and dynamic therapeutic characteristics throughout the full chemotherapy course remain insufficient. METHOD: 198 breast cancer patie
