Examining the Effects of Altitude on Workload Demands in Professional Basketball Players during the Preseason Phase.

Basketball involves frequent high-intensity movements requiring optimal aerobic power. Altitude training can enhance physiological adaptations, but research examining its effects in basketball is limited. This study aimed to characterize the internal/external workload of professional basketball players during preseason and evaluate the effects of altitude and playing position. Twelve top-tier professional male basketball players (Liga Endesa, ACB; guards: n = 3, forwards: n = 5, and centers: n = 4) participated in a crossover study design composed of two training camps with nine sessions over

Effect of 2 weeks rest-pause on oxidative stress and inflammation in female basketball players.

Intense exercise leads to increased production of free radicals, resulting in an inflammatory response in athletes. For this reason, it was decided to investigate whether a single intensive exercise until exhaustion applied after a 2-week rest period would result in a violation of the pro-oxidant-antioxidant balance. Twenty-seven trained female basketball players (age: 16.55 ± 0.96 years, body mass: 66.40 ± 13.68 kg, height: 173.45 ± 5.14 cm) were enrolled to the study following the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Study was conducted at the end of the competitive training phas

Effects of early sports specialization on landing and balance ability in female college basketball players.

OBJECTIVES: Early specialization in a single sport from childhood is associated with an increased risk for acute and overuse injuries. Conversely, experience in multiple sports may be associated with improved neuromuscular control and performance. Currently, early sports specialization remains poorly researched in Japan. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the relationship between early sports specialization and landing and balance ability in Japan. METHODS: Thirty-eight female college basketball players were included and divided into the early specialization and nonspecialization groups.
