A 21-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with high fever, general fatigue and dyspnea. Chest radiography on admission showed diffuse bilateral infiltrate shadows with Kerley's B lines, and a CT scan showed patches of infiltrates with thickened interlobular septa in both lungs. Examination of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and the clinical course led to a diagnosis of acute eosinophilic pneumonia. The patient improved without steroid therapy. A 20-year-old man was admitted with acute respiratory failure. He had started smoking 20 heat-not-burn cigarettes (HC) per day 6 months previously, then purchased a second device for smoking HC to increase smoking to 40 cigarettes per day 2 weeks before hospitalization. Acute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP) was diagnosed based on medical history, chest high-resolution computed tomographic findings, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid eosinophilia. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to identify changes in the prevalence of cigarette smoking approximately 1 year after discharge from inpatient rehabilitation for spinal cord injury (SCI).
METHOD: Self-report assessments were completed by 129 participants with SCI during initial inpatient rehabilitation and at an average follow-up of 489 days postinjury.
RESULTS: The prevalence of cigarette smoking declined from 36.4% at the time of SCI onset to 18.8%, and was not significantly different from the general population at follow-up.

Cigarette smoking among adults with bipolar disorder (BP) correlates with psychosis, substance use disorders (SUD), and suicidality. Little is known regarding smoking among youths with BP. Youths with BP (n = 441) were divided into three smoking groups: Never, Ever, and Daily. Twenty-five percent reported any smoking (11% daily, 14% ever).
