A 55-year-old woman was found unresponsive and subsequently was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage secondary to a right posterior communicating artery aneurysm. We report the draft genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant Enterobacter cloacae strain (3251) isolated from a dog in Bangladesh. The 5.1-Mb genome contains 41 predicted antimicrobial resistance genes and 9 virulence genes, highlighting companion animals as potential reservoirs of clinically relevant antimicrobial resistance.

The VIM-1-producing multidrug-resistant strain Enterobacter cloacae was isolated from blood culture. The strain showed multiple resistances to clinically used antibiotics, including all β-lactams, fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, and sulfonamides. Sequence analysis showed the presence of 14 genes associated with resistance to antibiotics, including the metallo-β-lactamase VIM-1 gene, which was located in a class 1 integron.
