The specific inflammatory lesions of the human tongue, namely fissured tongue and geographic tongue, have been found to differ clinically and histologically from each other and from healthy appearing tongue (control). OBJECTIVE: Leiomyoma of the round ligament of the uterus is a rare condition. We present the first case of a postmenopausal, previously hysterectomised, woman who received combined hormonal replacement therapy and developed a leiomyoma of the right round ligament.

OBJECTIVES: In order to provide further evidence for the origin and differentiation of PEComa, the clinicopathologic and immunophenotype findings were analyzed in 26 cases with literature review.
METHODS: Immunohistochemistry and special staining were used.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a severe muscle wasting disorder caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene. To examine the influence of muscle structure on the pathogenesis of DMD we generated mdx4cv:desmin double knockout (dko) mice. The dko male mice died of apparent cardiorespiratory failure at a median age of 76 days compared to 609 days for the desmin-/- mice. Visceral leiomyosarcoma is well described in dogs, but information about non-visceral locations and prevalence is lacking. We present the case of a 56-year-old woman presenting an uterine tumor associated with pain and vaginal bleeding. Cytoskeletons in Sertoli cell play an important role in process of spermatogenesis. The expression and distribution of the intermediate filaments, vimentin, keratin and desmin, were studied in the Sertoli cells of the cryptorchid testis of rhesus monkey. Schwannoma is generally a solitary, nodular, benign tumor of a peripheral nerve sheath, and it rarely affects the external female genitalia.
