Ixazomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma: long-term follow-up including ixazomib maintenance.

Triplet combinations containing a proteasome inhibitor are a standard of care in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). We examined the long-term efficacy and safety of the all-oral combination of weekly ixazomib plus lenalidomide-dexamethasone (IRd), followed by single-agent ixazomib maintenance in NDMM patients. Of 65 enrolled patients, 53 received ixazomib 4 mg (days 1, 8, and 15) plus lenalidomide 25 mg (days 1-21) and dexamethasone 40 mg (days 1, 8, 15, and 22) for up to twelve 28-day induction cycles. Twenty-three patients discontinued induction for stem cell transplantation (SCT). In

Analysis of the Factors Influencing Enterprise and Government Participation in the Medicines Patent Pool Based on System Dynamics Model.

BackgroundThe participation of enterprises and governments in the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) improves the disease management levels by enhancing the accessibility of medical resources. Non-participation of the stakeholders restricts the development of the MPP. Hence, systematic analysis of the key factors influencing MPP participation is necessary.MethodsA system dynamics model of the market before and after enterprises and governments join the MPP was constructed by considering the economic benefits of both stakeholders. The effects of generic drug prices, royalty rates, pooling subsidies, a

Allogeneic versus autologous stem cell transplantation after relapsing following first line autologous transplantation for multiple myeloma: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) has curative potential and was previously considered by several experts superior to autologous stem cell transplantation (auto-SCT) for patients with multiple myeloma relapsing after first-line auto-SCT. METHODS: The authors conducted a comprehensive literature review of English-language studies published from 1995 to October 2024. Five studies comparing allo-SCT with second auto-SCT following first line auto-SCT in multiple myeloma were included. Two additional studies comparing patients with or without a suitable allo-SCT donor aft

Overcoming obstacles to repurposing for neurodegenerative disease.

Repurposing Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs for a new indication may offer an accelerated pathway for new treatments to patients but is also fraught with significant commercial, regulatory, and reimbursement challenges. The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) convened an advisory panel in October 2013 to understand stakeholder perspectives related to repurposing FDA-approved drugs for neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we present opportunities on how philanthropy, industry, and government can begin to a
