Chronic-lymphocytic-leukemia (CLL) is the most prevalent leukemia in developed countries, caused by monoclonal proliferation of CD5+ B-cells and accumulation of mature-appearing-neoplastic lymphocytes in blood, bone marrow, and secondary lymphoid organs. Oral manifestations of CLL are infrequent and rarely reported in literature. We report a new case of a 67-year old man who presented with the complaints of tooth mobility and gingival swelling. Extra-oral examination was remarkable for cutaneous pallor and bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy involving the submandibular, and deep cervical lymph

BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) was estimated to affect 15% to 30% of males and 5% to 15% of females with prevalence increasing with progressive tooth loss and its early identification can reduce the sequalae of OSA. Apnea-hypopnea index is confirmatory but unsuitable for clinical settings to detect OSA and concise screening tools are required to detect OSA in edentulous patients.
AIM: To evaluate the impact of soft palate visibility and tongue position on incidence of OSA among edentulous patients.
METHODOLOGY: Thirty two edentulous participants aged between 30 and 65 years were g

Vitamins are organic compounds present in low concentrations in food, performing vital and specific cell metabolism functions. Vitamin B12 is essential for red blood cell formation in the bone marrow and its deficiency is caused, mainly, by gastrointestinal malabsorption. In addition to systemic manifestations, oral signs and symptoms have also been associated to this condition such as glossitis, papillary atrophy, painful erythema areas, burning sensation, dysgeusia, lingual paresthesia and itching. This study aims to report four cases of oral manifestations caused by vitamin B12 deficiency.

INTRODUCTION/AIMS: The edentulous mandibular ridge and associated shallow vestibule are often seen as a challenge in the oral rehabilitation of patients. Dental implants can provide an improvement in mastication and patient satisfaction. The aim of this study is to utilize a preprosthetic mucosal flap combined with a repositional periosteal flap concomitant with an alveoloplasty and placement of endosteal implants as a single-stage procedure in the anterior mandible. This approach provides a valued alternative for dental rehabilitation in patients with poor masticatory efficiency using a conve

Idiopathic cervical root resorption (ICRR) is a rare condition involving the cemento-enamel junction of the teeth. Multiple idiopathic cervical root resorption (MICRR) involves several teeth with an unknown prevalence and aetiology. The resorptive lesions are often detected on routine radiographs or during clinical examination. The defects are often painless, hence they are usually diagnosed late and in an advanced stage when diagnosed clinically. The restoration of MICRR can be demanding with subsequent loss of the teeth affected. In this report, we describe the case of a 16-year-old female w

The literature explains this difference in terms of higher levels of dental disease but does not mention the possibility of inequality in the treatment options offered these children.
AIM: The aim is to investigate whether the same treatment options are offered by practitioners to children with and without intellectual disability in equivalent clinical circumstances.

Palliative care (PC) represents an approach that encompasses the procedures to relieve pain and distressing symptoms and maintain function as much as possible in the terminally ill patient until death.
