Hysteroscopic correction of cornual occlusion with resultant term pregnancy.

Hysteroscopic correction of proximal cornual occlusion is possible in some cases using a simple ureteral stent. This allows re-establishment of tubal patency in selected cases with the possibility for occurrence of intrauterine pregnancy without the need for major surgery. The case presented represents the first reported term pregnancy in a well-documented case of this type.

Hysteroscopic management of intrauterine lesions and intractable uterine bleeding.

Müllerian fusion defects, submucous myomas, and intractable uterine bleeding have been managed traditionally by major surgical intervention. However, the cystoscope-resectoscope provides the operative versatility allowing transvaginal surgical management of these situations. Forty women underwent hysteroscopy and treatment with the cystoscope-resectoscope at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. Those patients treated for septate müllerian defects also underwent concomitant laparoscopy. Therapeutic surgical use of the cystoscope-resectoscope resulted in no immediate or long-term complications. Of 11 pa

Enhancing precision in hysteroscopic surgery: The role of intraoperative ultrasound.

Hysteroscopy stands as the gold-standard approach for managing intrauterine pathology. However, in complex clinical cases, hysteroscopic evaluation alone may prove insufficient for the safest and successful patient management. Intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) has emerged as a valuable adjunct to hysteroscopic surgery, offering real-time visualization of endometrial cavity, uterine walls and instruments within the uterine cavity, enabling precise delineation of anatomical structures, and helping to assess the extent of pathology during intricate interventions. This review aims to comprehensivel

Hysteroscopic features suggestive of chronic endometritis: a systematic review.

The purpose of this systematic review is to identify common hysteroscopic findings suggestive of endometritis, chronic or subclinical, based on current scientific evidence. Data sources were MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed and other sources of grey literature. Four (4) authors independently selected studies addressing hysteroscopic detection of CE based on specific and clearly stated hysteroscopic criteria. The diagnosis was confirmed by histologic assessment, as stated in the materials and methods of these studies included. The initial search identified 599 studies, of which 21 met the inclusion crit

Preliminary study on the advantages of hysteroscopic myomectomy with cold knife.

OBJECTIVES: At present, hysteroscopic submucosal fibroids resection is mostly performed by hysteroscopic electric resection (hereinafter referred to as electric knife). During the operation, the electrothermal effect could not only damage the endometrial tissues covered by the surface of the fibroid, but also easily damage the endometrial tissues around the fibroid, which is very unfavorable for patients with fertility requirements. In addition, for some special fibroids (located at horn and fundus) or Type II and multiple submucosal fibroids, the traditional electric resection is still very d

Hysteroscopic Morcellation in Endometrial Cancer Diagnosis: Increased Risk?

STUDY OBJECTIVE: Operative hysteroscopy requires elevated intrauterine pressures, which could lead to the spread of malignant cells into the peritoneal cavity. Currently, there is a paucity of data analyzing clinical outcomes in endometrial cancer after hysteroscopic morcellation with newer equipment. In this study, we sought to determine whether there are increased rates of positive peritoneal cytology, lymphovascular space invasion, or surgical upstaging in patients undergoing hysteroscopic morcellation compared with alternative endometrial biopsy methods. DESIGN: A retrospective chart revi

Hysteroscopic treatments for endometrial malignancies and premalignancies: state of the art.

Endometrioid endometrial cancer (EEC) is the most common gynecologic malignancy worldwide. One in four cases will be diagnosed before menopause. Endometrial atypical hyperplasia (EAH) is a precursor of endometrial cancer and tends to occur at a young age. Those who have early stage, grade 1 EEC or EAH and wish to preserve their fertility can be managed with hormonal therapy. Hysteroscopic treatment in addition to progestin therapy has been used more commonly in the last decade. Herein, a review of available data on hysteroscopic treatment in EEC and EAH is presented.

The Blooming phenomenon: a rarity, but a dilemma in hysteroscopic resection of myomas.

Modern surgical technologies allow gynecologists to treat most submucosal myomas hysteroscopically by some form of resection. What appears on imaging or direct visualization to be a submucosal myoma can be a single tumor, or may represent multiple smaller myomas appearing as one, compacted together in a typical pseudo capsule. During myoma resection, the effect of the media used to induce distension can vary, depending on the morphology of the myomas. After starting resection, the pressure of the distending media can push truly solitary myomas to somewhat flatten against the uterine wall. Howe

Hysteroscopic Treatment of Cervical Pregnancy: A Scoping Review of the Literature.

OBJECTIVE: Many therapies have been proposed for cervical pregnancy (CP) treatment; however, there is no consensus on the best practice to adopt, mainly owing to the rarity of this condition and the lack of randomized controlled trials. Therefore, there are no clinical practice guidelines for the management of this patient set. We presented an English literature review about the hysteroscopic management of CP. DATA SOURCES: The literature review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Scoping Reviews. The search strategy aimed at identifying cases from the first patients

Hysteroscopic management of retained products of conception: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: The management of retained products of conception (RPOC) is not well standardised due to a lack of evidence-based guidelines. Hysteroscopic resection has been proven to be safe and is hypothesised to have lower risk than dilation and curettage, but data comparing the two directly are limited. AIM: The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes for hysteroscopic resection for the management of RPOC in comparison to current standard management techniques. METHODS: A literature search was conducted in September 2019 using MEDLINE, Scopus, The Cochrane Library and Web of Science.
