The purpose of our study was to assess the gonadal function in male survivors of childhood lymphoma. We studied 171 male survivors of childhood lymphoma (83 with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma [B-NHL], 32 with T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma [T-NHL], 50 with Hodgkin lymphoma [HL], and 6 with anaplastic large-cell lymphoma [ALCL]), measuring follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH] levels at a median age of 21.1 (17-30.4) years after a median delay of 9.3 (2-22.4) years from treatment. Mediastinal lymphoma with neoplastic invasion into the heart was diagnosed in a 9-year-old castrated male domestic short hair cat. The neoplastic infiltrate was seen throughout the atria and atrial septum, surrounded the aortic root, and resulted in narrowing of the right ventricular outflow tract. In a consecutive series of studies, 164 patients with symptomatic and/or visceral metastatic malignant melanoma were treated with single agent vindesine, high dose melphalan with autologous bone marrow transplantation (AMBT), high dose BCNU with ABMT or the BOLD (bleomycin, vincristine, CCNU and DTIC) combination. PURPOSE: To determine clinical characteristics and response to treatment for children with supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors (S-PNETs).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: After surgery and staging, 55 patients aged 1.5 to 19.3 years with S-PNETs were randomized to receive craniospinal radiotherapy (RT) followed by eight cycles of 1-(2-chloro-ethyl)-3-cyclohexylnitrosourea (CCNU), vincristine (VCR), and prednisone (standard treatment) or two cycles of 8-in-1 chemotherapy followed by RT and then eight additional cycles of 8-in-1.

IMPORTANCE: Malignant primary brain tumors cause more than 15 000 deaths per year in the United States. The annual incidence of primary malignant brain tumors is approximately 7 per 100 000 individuals and increases with age. Five-year survival is approximately 36%.

BACKGROUND: Increases in liver enzymes occur in up to 86% of dogs receiving CCNU and can result in treatment delay or early discontinuation of treatment. Denamarin contains S-adenosylmethionine and silybin, both of which have been investigated as treatments for various liver diseases.
HYPOTHESIS: Dogs on CCNU receiving Denamarin have lower alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity than dogs not receiving Denamarin. Dogs on Denamarin are less likely to require treatment delay because of hepatopathy and are more likely to complete their prescribed course of CCNU.

Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is associated with a poor prognosis owing to the presence of metastasis at the time of diagnosis in most dogs. Between 1967 and 1977, 48 patients with Hodgkin's disease under 16-years-old were treated with MOPP chemotherapy alone at the Uganda Cancer Institute because radiotherapy facilities are not available. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of immunophenotype on the clinical characteristics and prognosis of 144 adult Chinese patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. Those entities with well-recognised immunophenotype and clinical characteristics were excluded. In the present study, the "8 drugs in 1 day" regimen was tested in 54 children: 27 relapses (brain and/or spinal and/or meningeal sites), 10 refractory progressive diseases, 13 macroscopic residual tumors after partial excision and/or radiotherapy; in 4 cases, this regimen was prescribed as first line treatment. Carcinoma of the choroid plexus (CCP) is a rare tumor of the central nervous system which occurs more frequently in patients under 3 years of age. We report 10 cases of CCP in children. There were 5 males and 5 females, aged 5 to 84 months at diagnosis (median 32 months). Eight CCP were located in the lateral ventricle and 2 in the fourth ventricle.
