BACKGROUND: Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin is a rare neoplasm of sweat gland origin. To date there are only 2 case reports in English describing its features on fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). We describe an additional case and review the literature regarding this entity. The molecular mechanisms mediating mucous cell metaplasia and hypersecretion in the respiratory tract are unknown. Previous work suggests that mucous metaplasia requires the induction of mucin gene expression. The Entamoeba histolytica galactose-binding lectin is a surface glycoprotein composed of 170- and 35-kDa subunits. Intracholecystic neoplasms (ICNs) (pyloric gland adenomas and intracholecystic papillary neoplasms, collectively also called intracholecystic papillary/tubular neoplasms) form multifocal, extensive proliferations on the gallbladder mucosa and have a high propensity for invasion (>50%). In this study, 19 examples of a poorly characterized phenomenon, mural papillary mucinous lesions that arise in adenomyomatous nodules and form localized ICNs, were analyzed. Two of these were identified in 1750 consecutive cholecystectomies reviewed specifically for this purpose, placing its incidence at 0.1%.

Appendiceal mucinous neoplasm is a relatively rare disease. It is classified as mucinous adenocarcinoma(MACA)and low- grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm(LAMN). We retrospectively evaluated 16 cases of appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN: 13 cases, MACA: 3 cases)that were surgically resected in our hospital between January 2010 and July 2021. There were 7 men and 9 women, with a median age of 61 years(27-85 years). The most common chief complaint was abdominal pain(12 patients), while 3 cases were incidental findings following medical checkups for other diseases and without a chief complaint.
