How do existing HRSN assessment tools assess social needs for older adults? A systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Health related social needs (HRSNs) limit access to healthcare and contribute to significant health disparities among older adults. The Louisiana-Mississippi Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (LAMS-GWEP) is a federally funded program that educates and trains healthcare professionals to address the needs of older adults living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and their care partners. Given that HRSNs compound caregiving stress and may limit access to dementia-related healthcare, understanding how to accurately assess these needs in geriatric context is

Mental Health, Drug Use, and Programming: Applying a Needs Assessment Framework in Arkansas' Largest Jail.

Jail programming is rarely informed by site-specific health needs, diagnostic-specific screening tools that are validated, or the input of incarcerated individuals. Using the community needs assessment (CNA) framework, we aimed to fill these gaps among people incarcerated in the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility (PCRDF), Arkansas' largest jail. Participants were 179 adults at the PCRDF who completed surveys and open-ended questions focused on (a) their mental and behavioral health and (b) programming needs at the facility. Using a concurrent transformative mixed-methods design, we des

Qualitative assessment of patients' perspectives and needs from community pharmacists in substance use disorder management.

BACKGROUND: Non-medical use of psychoactive substances is a common harmful behavior that leads to the development of Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). SUD is a significant health concern that causes adverse health consequences and elevates the economic burden on the health care system. SUD treatment plans that utilize a patient-centered approach have demonstrated improved treatment outcomes. It is essential for health care providers, including community pharmacists, to understand patients' needs and prioritize them. Therefore, this study was conducted to explore the perspective of patients livin
