[Patient satisfaction following operation for lumbosacral radicular syndrome: an apparent paradox].

An operation for a herniated disc is successful in the majority of cases. In most patients the pain in the affected leg disappears almost immediately. However in 10-40% of cases the symptoms either do not disappear or recur. In spite of this high complication rate, it is reported that almost 90% of patients are satisfied with the operation. This should be interpreted as a compliment to the attending physician and not as the outcome of the operation. The high rate of symptoms or recurrences after operation calls for better prognostic studies. Based on better predictions, patients and their doct

Psychosocial and pharmacologic predictors of satisfaction with intravenous patient-controlled analgesia.

Despite intravenous patient-controlled analgesia's (IV-PCA) increasing popularity, the psychological and pharmacological factors upon which patient satisfaction with IV-PCA are based are unknown. Sixty-eight women scheduled for abdominal hysterectomy completed a series of questionnaires measuring emotional distress, locus of control, perceived support, and optimism before their surgery. Postoperative ratings of pain intensity, emotional distress, anticipated recovery time, nightmares, and satisfaction with IV-PCA were taken 1 and 3 days after surgery. A nurse observer rated perceived anxiety,

Homeless patients' experience of satisfaction with care.

This article explores homeless individuals' experiences of satisfaction with health care, and explores the interrelationship among experiences of being homeless, health perceptions of participants, and experiences of satisfaction with health care. It presents the findings of a phenomenological study that was conducted using participants selected from five sites in one southeastern state. Participant interviews were conducted at a nurse-managed primary health care clinic for homeless, at a night time soup-kitchen, and at three private, not-for-profit, homeless shelters in two different towns. Digitally supported, patient-initiated care: Maintaining control of inflammatory bowel diseases while achieving high patient satisfaction.

BACKGROUND: The increasing prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and constrained clinical resources necessitate a shift from fixed-interval outpatient visits towards patient-initiated, needs-based follow-up. Real-world evidence on whether such transitions maintain disease control and achieve patient acceptance remains limited. In 2024, Aalborg University Hospital (Denmark) transitioned all patients with IBD not receiving biological therapy to a digitally supported, patient-initiated monitoring model. We aimed to evaluate the quality of care and patient satisfaction after the transitio

Patient satisfaction following Goldilocks mastectomy in non-obese women: A pilot study.

The Goldilocks mastectomy was described as a reconstructive option for obese patients undergoing mastectomy, aiming to reduce surgical burden by avoiding extremes of traditional reconstruction. In non-obese patients, a limitation of this technique is insufficient postoperative breast volume; however, data on patient-reported satisfaction remains scarce. In this pilot study, we evaluated postoperative satisfaction in non-obese patients undergoing Goldilocks mastectomy using the BREAST-Q questionnaire. Despite limited breast volume, patient-reported outcomes demonstrated favorable satisfaction a
