The Correlation of Smartphone Screen Time With Resting Respiratory Rate, Head-Neck Alignment, and Chest Expansion Among University Students.

Background and objective Smartphone usage has increased considerably among young adults and is often associated with prolonged neck flexion and forward head posture. Excessive screen time may lead to alterations in head-neck alignment, musculoskeletal adaptations, and changes in respiratory mechanics. Previous studies have suggested that poor posture can influence breathing patterns and respiratory function; however, evidence regarding the relationship between smartphone screen time, head-neck alignment, and resting respiratory rate remains limited. This study aimed to assess the correlation b

Exploring the link between screen time and severity of early childhood caries in primary molars: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a significant yet often overlooked paediatric health concern, particularly in India. Previous studies have linked excessive screen exposure, known as Problematic Screen Exposure (PSE), with caries in children. However, the association between PSE and the severity of ECC in terms of cavitated and non-cavitated lesions remains unexplored. This study investigates the prevalence of PSE among ECC-affected preschool children and examines its correlation with ECC severity. METHODS: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted among 100 children aged

Cross-sectional and prospective associations of screen media use with non-sedentary time and body positions in young children.

BACKGROUND: Physical activity in preschoolers is essential for their development, but screen media use could displace free active play. Due to the sporadic nature of young children's movements advancements in classifying sedentary and non-sedentary behavior are crucial for understanding the potential impact of screen media use on their development. OBJECTIVES: To investigate cross-sectional and 18-month prospective associations between leisure screen media use and leisure accelerometry-based non-sedentary time, body positions and physical activity types in preschoolers. METHODS AND SETTING:
