BACKGROUND: Surgical repair of proximal rectus femoris avulsion injuries is associated with prolonged periods of rehabilitation and highly variable risk of injury recurrence. Surgical tenodesis of these injuries is often reserved for recurrent injuries or revision surgery. To our knowledge, the outcomes of proximal rectus femoris avulsion injuries treated with surgical repair versus primary tenodesis have not been previously reported.
HYPOTHESIS: Primary tenodesis of proximal rectus femoris avulsion injuries is associated with reduced risk of injury recurrence as compared with surgical repair

BACKGROUND: Although tenotomy and tenodesis are frequently used for long head of the biceps tendon lesions, controversies remain as to which technique is superior regarding pain, functionality, complications, and cosmetic appearance.
QUESTIONS/PURPOSES: (1) For long head of biceps tendon lesions, does tenotomy or tenodesis result in greater improvements in VAS score for pain? (2) Which approach has superior results when evaluating function outcome (Constant) scores? (3) Does tenotomy or tenodesis have fewer complications? (4) Does tenotomy or tenodesis result in better cosmesis (Popeye sign)?

BACKGROUND: Suprapectoral long head biceps (LHB) tenodesis and subpectoral LHB tenodesis are both commonly performed surgical procedures. Due to the more proximal position of the suprapectoral tenodesis site this technique may be accompanied with more postoperative pain in the bicipital groove and cramping pain in the biceps muscle. We hypothesized that subpectoral tenodesis is associated with a better clinical outcome than suprapectoral tenodesis.
METHODS: A literature search was conducted in PubMed and Embase from January 2000 to July 2019 with the terms "biceps" and "tenodesis". Only compa

Multiple different techniques exist for performing a biceps tenodesis, and the literature has yet to define a particular technique as superior with respect to outcomes. Factors as the center of various clinical and biomechanical studies include analyzing arthroscopic versus open techniques, optimal fixation sites, and the use specific fixation devices (i.e., anchor, screw). This article details an all-arthroscopic approach for proximal tenodesis of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT) using a 2-portal method in a minimally invasive manner. Optimal biomechanical fixation of the LHBT is ach

BACKGROUND: Arthroscopic cortical surface tenodesis has been established as an effective technique for managing lesions of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT). However, traditional suture techniques frequently provide insufficient initial mechanical strength, which may contribute to tenodesis failure. To address this limitation, the Lark-Loop suture technique was developed.
PURPOSE: To compare the biomechanical, histological, and radiological outcomes of Lasso-Loop, Lark-Loop, and Krackow suture techniques for cortical surface tenodesis of the LHBT in a rabbit model.

BACKGROUND: Rotator cuff tears cause pathologies of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT). One of the surgical treatments for such a tear is LHBT tenodesis to the humerus. This study aims to compare simultaneous rotator cuff repair and LHBT tenodesis with or without detachment of the proximal end of the LHBT (PELHBT) from its site of adhesion to the glenoid.
METHODS: This retrospective study involved patients affected by LHBT pathology with rotator cuff tear. The patients were divided into two groups, with or without PELHBT detachment from the glenoid. Therapeutic outcomes were investigat

BACKGROUND: Secure tendon grasping is critical to the success of any tenodesis procedure. Several techniques currently used for tendon grasping can result in longitudinal splitting of the tendon, causing construct failure and failure of the tenodesis.
PURPOSE: To compare the Loop 'n' Tack knot as a tendon-grasping technique with other common suture techniques. We investigated the biomechanical strength and mode of failure.
STUDY DESIGN: Controlled laboratory study.
METHODS: Eleven matched pairs of proximal biceps were harvested from fresh-frozen cadaveric shoulders. One tendon from each pai

BACKGROUND: Many orthopaedic surgical procedures involve reattachment of a single tendon to bone. Whether tendon-to-bone healing is better facilitated by tendon fixation within a bone tunnel or on a cortical surface is unknown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate tendon-healing within a bone tunnel compared with that on the cortical surface in a rabbit model of biceps tenodesis.
METHODS: Thirty-two rabbits (24 weeks of age) underwent unilateral proximal biceps tenodesis with tendon fixation within a bone tunnel (BT group) or on the cortical surface (SA [surface attachment] group). Posto

BACKGROUND: Long head biceps tendon pathology is a common cause of anterior shoulder pain and is often associated with other shoulder conditions, such as rotator cuff tears and osteoarthritis. It is well accepted that older patients are at increased risk for major and minor peri- and postoperative complications. The purpose of this study is to investigate patients over 65 years old who underwent subpectoral biceps tenodesis and compare the complication rates of this group to those of patients younger than 65 years old. The hypothesis is, that there would be no difference in complication rates

INTRODUCTION: Full thickness rotator cuff tears are a common cause of shoulder pain and disability. While the role of the rotator cuff seems to be well known, the clinical significance of the biceps tendon for shoulder function has still been a subject of controversy. The aim of this study was to evaluate differences between tenodesis or tenotomy in simultaneous rotator cuff repair.
METHODS: For this retrospective study 53 consecutive patients (25f/28m, Ø age 58 years) undergoing arthroscopic double row rotator cuff reconstruction and suture bridge repair were included. The LHB was treated wi

HYPOTHESIS: The aim of this study was to compare different techniques for tenodesis of the long head of biceps tendon (LHB) in the suprapectoral and subpectoral position to test the hypothesis that using shorter screws at the subpectoral position would achieve a similar primary ultimate failure load (UFL) as the longer screws at the suprapectoral position, that both types of tenodesis screws achieve comparable UFL, and that knotless suture anchor techniques can be performed at the subpectoral position in cortical bone and reach a UFL similar to tenodesis screws.

INTRODUCTION: Tumoral calcinosis is a rare hereditary condition characterized by the deposition of calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite in periarticular soft tissues. First described by Giard and Duret in 1898 and later detailed by Inclan in 1943, this condition has often been confused with other forms of periarticular calcification. Tumoral calcinosis predominantly affects young males and is typically found around major joints, such as the shoulder, elbow, hip, ankle, and wrist.
CASE REPORT: We present a unique case of tumoral calcinosis in a 12-year-old boy, exhibiting intra-articular exten

Appreciation of persistent anterolateral rotatory instability and graft failure after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction procedures has led surgeons to adopt the addition of lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) in both the revision and primary setting. Multiple techniques have been shown to eliminate anterolateral rotatory instability and reduce forces on the ACL graft, which has translated to lower re-rupture rates and improved patient outcomes. The risk of ACL/LET tunnel convergence can potentially compromise the fixation of one or both graft reconstructions. This article des

OBJECTIVES: For iliotibial band (ITB) lateral extra-articular tenodesis or anterolateral ligamentous/capsular reconstruction with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, a clear understanding of the referenced anterolateral knee anatomy is critical-especially given the risk of injury to the physis or key anterolateral structures in the paediatric population, which is at high-risk for primary and secondary anterior cruciate ligament injury. The purpose of this study was to quantitatively assess the anatomy of the knee physes, paediatric lateral collateral ligament (LCL) origin, popliteus ori
