Dengue virus (DENV) is responsible for hundreds of millions of infections per year, but no clinically approved antiviral therapy exists, and direct-acting candidates are limited by toxicity and viral genetic diversity. Traditional medicinal preparations such as Nimba/Neem (Azadirachta indica) and polyherbal Ayurvedic preparation Triphala (a combination of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica and Phyllanthus emblica) contain multiple metabolites with antiviral and antioxidant properties but their mechanisms of action are not fully characterised. Here, we combined cell-based antiviral assays

OBJECTIVE: Hyperuricemia is a strong precursor of gout, which deteriorates patients' health and quality of life. Sustained adherence to urate-lowering therapies (ULTs) is crucial for efficacy and therapeutic cost-effectiveness. Recently, several new ULTs have been proposed. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to reassess the efficacy and safety of the current ULTs, focusing on adherence attrition-related adverse event reporting.
METHOD: The Bayesian network meta-analysis was applied to compare ULTs. Drug efficacy and safety were measured b

Allergic rhinitis, a frequently occurring immunological disorder affecting men, women and children worldwide, is a state of hypersensitivity that occurs when the body overreacts to a substance such as pollen, mold, mites or dust. Allergic rhinitis exerts inflammatory response and irritation of the nasal mucosal membranes leading to sneezing; stuffy/runny nose; nasal congestion; and itchy, watery and swollen eyes. A novel, safe polyherbal formulation (Aller-7/NR-A2) has been developed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis using a unique combination of extracts from seven medicinal plants inclu

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Euphorbia pekinensis Radix (EP) is a traditional medicinal plant widely used in Mongolian and Chinese medicine for its potent therapeutic properties in treating edema, ascites, and various inflammatory conditions. However, EP has toxicity, which can cause swelling and congestion of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Chebulae Fructus is a unique processing method in Mongolian medicine that is believed to mitigate EP's toxicity and adjust its effect, though the mechanisms underlying this detoxification remain poorly understood.
AIM OF THE STUDY: This study employed an

Northeast India constitutes a substantial portion of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot and harbours a wide array of wild edible fruits. These fruits significantly contribute to the nutritional security, traditional medicine, and sustainability of the region's indigenous populations. Though they hold ethno medicinal importance and are widely used traditionally, detailed information on nutritional properties, bioactive compounds, and functional food elements is quite limited. Accordingly, this study has been conducted to evaluate the nutritional profile, bioactive phytochemicals, mineral conte

Mutations in the BicaudalD (BicD) gene lead to a global reorganization of the Drosophila body pattern such that the head, thoracic, and anterior abdominal segments are replaced by posterior abdominal segments and terminalia. We first provide evidence that the primary cause of this phenotype is the inhibition of two anterior factors, bicoid and hunchback, by mislocalized activity of the posterior determinant nanos. We then describe the isolation of the BicD gene and show that it encodes a coiled-coil protein similar to the carboxy-terminal portion of the myosin heavy chain. Finally, we find tha
