Introduction: Vaccine hesitancy has been implicated in the low-vaccination coverage in several countries. Knowledge about vaccine hesitancy predictors in health workers is essential because they play a central role in communication about the importance and safety of vaccines. This study aimed to assess beliefs and sociodemographic and occupational factors associated with vaccine hesitancy in health workers. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study among 453 health workers in primary and medium complexity services in a municipality in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The variable vaccine hesitancy

The purpose of our study was to determine the willingness to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and factors associated with vaccine hesitancy among people with epilepsy (PWE). In December 2020, we performed an online cross-sectional survey of PWE and their caregivers in Lithuania before the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines to the public. The study sample consisted of 111 respondents (44 (39.6%) male, median age 25 years (range 1 to 70)). From 58 PWE who personally responded to the survey, 27 (46.6%) would be willing to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Among the 53 caregivers, 18 (34.0%) would accept th

BACKGROUND: Living organ donation declined substantially in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic due to concerns about donor and transplant candidate safety. COVID-19 vaccines might increase confidence in the safety of living organ donation during the pandemic. We assessed informational preferences and perspectives about COVID-19 vaccines among US living organ donors and prospective donors.
METHODS: We conducted a national survey study of organ donors and prospective donors on social media platforms between 12/28/2020-2/23/2021. Survey items included multiple choice, visual analog s

OBJECTIVE: Vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a promising avenue for arresting the COVID-19 pandemic, yet suboptimal rates of vaccine uptake in at-risk groups may hinder efficacy and worsen existing health disparities. People with opioid use disorder (OUD) are likely to face increased vulnerability to COVID-19 due to a confluence of biological and social risk factors. We sought to assess factors associated with willingness to vaccinate against COVID-19 in people with OUD.
METHOD: Phone surveys were conducted from May to October 2020 with participants enrolled in an urb

OBJECTIVES: Immunization is an essential component of RA care. Nevertheless, vaccine coverage in RA is suboptimal. Contextual, individual and vaccine-related factors influence vaccine acceptance. However, barriers and facilitators of vaccination in RA are not well defined. The aim of this study was to assess perspectives of RA patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in RA care of barriers and facilitators regarding influenza and pneumococcal vaccines.
METHODS: Eight focus groups (four with RA patients and four with HCPs) and eight semi-structured open-ended individual interviews

The debate around vaccines has been in the spotlight over the last few years in Europe, both within the scientific community and the general public debate. In this regard, the case of the Italian vaccination debate is particularly worrying given that Italy has been one of the European countries with the highest number of measles cases in the recent past. According to this scenario, we conducted a cross-sectional study on a convenience sample of Italian university students aimed at: (1) exploring their attitudes towards a future vaccine to prevent COVID-19 and; (2) evaluating the impact of the

BACKGROUND: Thanks to a successful voluntary vaccination programme, measles, mumps and rubella are rare diseases in Sweden. Coverage among children 18 mo of age has been 99%, but the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination (MMR) has increasingly been questioned among parents.
AIM: To study reasons why parents choose not to vaccinate their child against measles, mumps and rubella, and their opinions on vaccines and the diseases themselves. A secondary objective was to compare coverage at 18 mo of age based on parental report with the national statistics based on patient charts.

Based on regulatory focus theory and framing theory, this study employed a 2 (message framing: gain vs. loss) × 2 (regulatory focus: promotion vs. prevention) between-subjects experiment to examine American parents' willingness to vaccinate their 5- to 11-year-old children against COVID-19. Our findings indicate that the direct effect of message framing was minimal. Messages were more persuasive when framing valence was matched with participants' chronic regulatory focus. Loss-framed messages when matched with a prevention focus-and gain-framed messages matched with a promotion focus-were more

This study examined whether COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy (VH) and COVID-19-related factors interact to influence COVID-19 booster doses uptake among university students in Canada, from a syndemic perspective. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 4453 students at the University of Waterloo in 2024. VH was measured toward both COVID-19 primary and booster doses. Change in VH scores were computed to capture shifts in hesitancy over time. Logistic regression models assessed the main effects of VH and COVID-19-related factors on booster uptake. Interactions were tested using additive and mult

INTRODUCTION: The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one of the most effective primary measures to prevent HPV-related infections and deadly cancers. Despite the availability of the HPV vaccine in the market for almost 17 years, it still remains underutilized. This study is planned with the objective to find out the reasons for vaccine hesitancy (VH) among the Indian population.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Web-based cross-sectional study done using a snowball sampling method. A prevalidated questionnaire containing 15 items was circulated through social media, and responses were evaluated for c

Despite rapid initial uptake, COVID-19 vaccinations in the United States stalled within a few months of widespread rollout in 2021. In response, many state and local governments, employers and health systems used public health messaging, financial incentives and creative scheduling tools to increase vaccine uptake. Although these approaches drew on evidence from influenza and other vaccination efforts, they were largely untested in the context of SARS-CoV-2. In mid-2021, months after vaccines were widely available, we evaluated vaccination intentions and vaccine uptake using a randomized contr

OBJECTIVE: Although vaccines are one of the most cost-effective, low-risk healthcare approaches that save thousands of lives every year, paradoxical fear about vaccine safety is a major roadblock for achieving widespread vaccination coverage. The objective of this study is to change public perception of vaccine safety by presenting real-world incidence of adverse events following immunization (AEFIs).
METHODS: In this study, we used Canadian post-market adverse events data to estimate the real-world risk of AEFI and benchmarked them against five commonly used drug types-ACE inhibitors, beta2

General practitioners (GPs) play a critical role in patient acceptance of vaccination. Vaccine hesitancy (VH) is a growing phenomenon in the general population but also affects GPs. Few data exist on VH among GPs. The objectives of this analysis of a population of GPs in the Belgian Wallonia-Brussels Federation (WBF) were to: (1) determine the prevalence and the features of VH, (2) identify the correlates, and (3) estimate the discrepancy in vaccination's behaviors between the GPs' children and the recommendations made to their patients. An online survey was carried out among the population of

Background/Objectives: Seasonal influenza imposes a significant burden on pediatric public health. Despite official recommendations and full insurance coverage, vaccination rates among children in Slovakia remain critically low. This study aims to analyze the attitudes, beliefs, and determinants of parental hesitancy regarding childhood influenza vaccination in the post-pandemic context. Methods: A single-center cross-sectional survey was conducted between February and March 2025 using convenience sampling among parents of children attending a pediatric immunoallergology center. BACKGROUND: Digital tools are known to promote public health interventions such as vaccine delivery. The recommendation that health care professionals (HCPs) use vaccination-related mobile apps or web-based applications has contributed to improving vaccine awareness and acceptance in the United States. The state of Texas, which has one of the lowest human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates, has seen a significant increase in HPV vaccine hesitancy, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine the association between changes in HPV vaccine hesitancy obse

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, has been spread to more than 100 countries until now. Vaccines are vital measures to protect against mpox infection. However, vaccine hesitancy remains a barrier to achieving widespread vaccination coverage. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of mpox vaccination hesitancy and its associated factors in China. We conducted a cross-sectional survey among 3669 participants aged 18 years and above in China from September 15 to October 9, 2024. The main outcomes measured were the hesitancy to get vaccinated against mpox for oneself and for one's children. Data

BACKGROUND: African immigrants in the U.S. may face elevated mpox exposure risks because they are more likely to travel to endemic regions where they maintain strong social and familial ties, while also encountering sociocultural barriers to vaccination. The ways in which mpox stigma and knowledge influence vaccine willingness, particularly through modifiable psychological pathways, remain unclear.
OBJECTIVE: To test whether mpox stigma and mpox knowledge are associated with willingness to receive an mpox vaccine via two mediators: vaccine confidence and vaccine hesitancy.
METHODS: We conduc
