A Case of Porokeratosis Ptychotropica Treated with Cryotherapy.

Porokeratosis encompasses a group of dermatoses characterized by marked keratinization of epidermis with distinct histological identification of cornoid lamellae of invaginated epidermis (1). Porokeratosis ptychotropica is a rare variant of porokeratosis, presenting as one or more red or brown plaques in the intergluteal and genital areas (2). Affecting predominantly adult men, it remains as uncommon as it is unexplained, with sporadic appearance and unknown physiopathology (3). Diagnosis is based on histology and therapeutic approaches used include topical corticosteroids, systemic retinoids,

Management of cutaneous T cell lymphoma: new and emerging targets and treatment options.

Cutaneous T cell lymphomas (CTCL) clinically and biologically represent a heterogeneous group of non-Hodgkin lymphomas, with mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome being the most common subtypes. Over the last decade, new immunological and molecular pathways have been identified that not only influence CTCL phenotype and growth, but also provide targets for therapies and prognostication. This review will focus on recent advances in the development of therapeutic agents, including bortezomib, the histone deacetylase inhibitors (vorinostat and romidepsin), and pralatrexate in CTCL.

Update management below knee intervention.

The application of percutaneous techniques for the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) has gained widespread interest over the last decade. Together with the development of new endovascular tools and with an increasing operator experience, the minimal invasive percutaneous therapy became first line therapy at many institutions. Patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI) due to infrapopliteal lesions are often no good candidates infra-geniculate bypass surgery (IBS), as they often present with prohibitive comorbidities, inadequate conduit, and lack of suitable distal targe

The use of corticosteroid/beta-blocker combinations in the management of regression after PRK for high myopia.

After nearly 8 years of clinical experience, and with conflicting evidence from trials with and without corticosteroids, there is still no single, universally agreed postoperative management regimen for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). All agree that corticosteroids will reverse sudden regressions, and so most still use varying corticosteroid regimens. In Hong Kong we are faced with many patients whose myopia is greater than -6 diopters (D), and we agree with the general observation that the regression/haze rate is much greater for these higher errors, and that increased intraocular pressure

[Fourier analysis as a mathematical model for evaluating and presenting postoperative corneal topography data after non-mechanical perforating keratoplasty].

BACKGROUND: Videokeratography has given the possibility to obtain information in curvature from a much larger region of the cornea than that covered by keratometry. Fourier analysis as a mathematical model can be used to represent real physical attributes of the cornea and to divide corneal topography in its basic components: the zero-frequency component as the mean ring power, the one-cycle component as a representation of decentration and the two-cycle component as a representation of regular corneal toricity. The purpose of this study was the reconstruction of the corneal refraction after p
