PURPOSE: To assess the effect of body mass index (BMI) on dose to organs at risk (OARs) during high-dose-rate vaginal brachytherapy and evaluate the role of three-dimensional dose evaluation during treatment planning.

Bladder exstrophy is a rare malformation. Ureteral diversion, such as ureterosigmoidostomy or a neorectal bladder, has been described. HISTORY AND ADMISSION FINDINGS: We report on a 65-year-old female patient with a recent diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon and massive hematochezia in the context of a general bleeding disorder.

BACKGROUND: Radiotherapy currently plays a key role in pelvic malignancies' management. Excellent outcomes have been reported on its association with chemotherapy for the treatment of the anal carcinoma. BACKGROUND: Serrated adenoma is a discrete colorectal epithelial neoplastic lesion that can evolve into colorectal cancer. However, the degree of malignant potential has not been firmly established as yet. The purpose of the present paper was to compare the malignant potential and clinicopathological features between serrated and traditional adenomas.
METHODS: A total of 124 serrated adenomas from 116 patients were assessed, and 419 traditional adenomas from 200 were randomly selected. The combination of nuclear dysplasia and serration of > or =20% of crypts was regarded as serrated adenoma.

Ureteroileosigmoidostomy has been performed on 86 patients during the past twenty years, primarily for carcinoma of the bladder. Twenty-seven patients survived longer than five years. Severe complications occurred in 25 cases, and 11 per cent of the series required subsequent surgery. Hydronephrosis developed in 10 per cent. Ureteral reflux could be demonstrated by diatrizoate meglumine (Gastrografin) enema in 6 patients only.
