Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a severe complication characterised by poor healing. Although adjunctive therapies like acupressure may improve outcomes, controlled evidence remains limited. This study evaluated whether acupressure reduces postoperative infection rates and hospital stay in patients with Wagner grade 2-3 DFUs. This single-center retrospective cohort study included eligible patients undergoing surgical debridement and moist wound healing between 2018 and 2024. Patients receiving standardised acupressure (ST36, SP6, KI3) were compared to a standard care-only cohort. To control confo

BACKGROUND: The adverse effect of chronic kidney disease extends far beyond the primary impact on kidney function. Children undergoing Haemodialysis (HD) develop several oral complications such as decreased salivary flow rate and xerostomia. This creates a vicious cycle where the compulsive urge to drink further contributes to fluid overload. Providing a standalone program may not be sufficient to ensure full adherence to fluid restrictions. Auricular Acupressure (AA) induces parasympathetic stimulation which increases salivary flow rate and alleviate persistent feeling of thirst.
AIM: to ass

BACKGROUND: Lower limb fractures cause local pain, swelling, ecchymosis, and dysfunction. Clinically, incision and reduction surgery are often employed to treat lower limb fractures. However, postoperative pain can be intense, leading to adverse emotions that hinder subsequent recovery.
METHODS: A total of 99 postoperative patients with lower limb fractures were randomly divided into 3 groups: the control group (routine care, 33 patients), the auricular acupressure group (routine care plus auricular acupressure, 33 patients), and the combined group (routine care, auricular acupressure, and em

BACKGROUND: Chemotherapy for breast cancer often induces multidimensional adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms are interrelated and may evolve dynamically, impacting patients' treatment outcomes and quality of life. As non-pharmacological interventions, transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) and self-acupressure (SA) have shown potential in alleviating symptoms. However, their long-term effects on the joint developmental trajectories of these multidimensional symptoms (nausea and vomiting, anxiety, depression,

BACKGROUND: Chronic low back pain (cLBP) is a prevalent and disabling condition in older adults. Auricular point acupressure (APA), a nonpharmacologic intervention, has shown promise in managing cLBP. However, its impact on daily symptom fluctuations remains unclear. Ecological momentary assessment (EMA), which collects real-time data, offers a method to capture these fluctuations.
OBJECTIVE: This secondary analysis evaluated the effects of APA on EMA-reported pain intensity and pain interference among older adults with cLBP and examined associations among APA practice patterns, recall-based

OBJECTIVE: To identify how acupressure on the acupoint Yintang (EX-HN 3) impacts oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and peripheral perfusion in term-born infants without underlying disease.
METHODS: Infants born between weeks 37 and 42 of gestation were included in this study. The polyclinic's neonatology room was noise-controlled and made half-dark to prevent the perfusion index from being confounded. A pulse oximeter was linked to the baby's left lower extremity. Acupressure was applied on Yintang (EX-HN 3) for 30 s clockwise, held for 30 s, and then acupressure was applied for another 30 s cou

BACKGROUND: Natural delivery is distressing, and the mother's anxiety in this condition can have negative impacts on the fetus, mother, and the delivery process. Hence, many women tend to use pharmacological or nonpharmacological methods for reduction of labor stress and anxiety. The aim was to assess the effect of supportive care and acupressure during labor on the mother's anxiety level and arterial oxygen pressure of the umbilical cord of infants.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This performed on 150 pregnant women were randomly assigned to two interventions and a control group in the delivery ward

BACKGROUND: Childbirth is a multidimensional experience involving physical, emotional, and psychological challenges. Holistic nursing interventions such as acupressure may improve maternal well-being beyond pain relief, yet comparative evidence for SP6 (Sanyinjiao) and LI4 (Hegu) acupressure is limited.
PURPOSE: To evaluate the preliminary effectiveness of nurse-administered SP6 and LI4 acupressure on labour pain, maternal coping, and intrapartum maternal comfort among primiparous women.
METHODS: In this three-arm pilot randomized controlled trial, 90 primiparous women were randomly assigned

BACKGROUND: The increasing prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents, especially at younger ages, has emerged as a significant concern in recent years. Pre-myopia is a key period for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Previous studies suggested auricular acupressure (AA) therapy might offer a viable approach to prevent and slow down myopia progression. Nonetheless, these studies lack robust, high-quality, large-scale, multi-center evidence to conclusively support such assertions. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and eco

BACKGROUND: Depressive symptoms and reduced quality of life (QOL) are parts of the chronic stress syndrome and predictive of adverse outcome in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). Chronic stress is associated with increased sensitivity for pain, which can be measured by algometry as Pressure Pain Sensitivity (PPS) on the sternum.
AIM: To evaluate if stress focus by self-measurement of PPS, followed by stress reducing actions including acupressure, can decrease depressive symptoms and increase psychological well-being in people with stable IHD.
DESIGN: Observer blinded randomized clin

BackgroundThe incidence of breast cancer has been steadily increasing in recent years. Endocrine therapy, as a first-line treatment, is typically required for 5 to 10 years. However, joint pain is one of the most common adverse effects, affecting 50%-70% of patients and significantly compromising treatment adherence and quality of life. Current management strategies have limited efficacy. Electroacupuncture has been shown to alleviate joint pain intensity and improve related symptoms, but the need for frequent hospital visits imposes a logistical burden on patients and their families, which ma

BACKGROUND: Consumer virtual reality (VR) devices are becoming more prevalent in the market, but cybersickness induced by VR devices limits their potential application and promotion. Acustimulation has been found effective in reducing cybersickness symptoms. However, in previous forms, the more effective way of acustimulation is either intrusive or electrical which is hard to be applied to daily VR use.
PURPOSE: In this study, we aimed to find a both simple and more effective acustimulation approach, acupressure plus acupaste (AcP+) to reducing the adverse effects caused by cybersickness from
