A two-stage fuzzy flexible flow shop scheduling problem with no-wait and reentrant constraints using adaptive particle swarm optimization.

To address increasing production and logistical challenges in the fresh livestock processing industry, this study investigates a two-stage multiprocessor flow shop scheduling problem with fuzzy processing times and time window constraints. Ensuring product freshness under urban congestion and limited storage capacity requires precise and flexible scheduling to minimize early and late completion penalties. This study proposes an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm that integrates fuzzy processing environments with time-constrained scheduling. The main contributions are threefold: (1)

An unsupervised dual-phase framework combining statistical separation and hybrid level set evolution for robust motion detection and segmentation in intelligent video surveillance.

Accurate detection and segmentation of moving objects constitute a fundamental challenge in computer vision, particularly for intelligent video surveillance systems operating under variable illumination, dynamic backgrounds, and environmental noise. This paper presents a fully unsupervised dual-phase motion analysis framework that effectively combines statistical independence modeling and geometric contour evolution to achieve high-precision motion detection and segmentation. In the first phase, an enhanced Fast Independent Component Analysis (Fast-ICA) algorithm is employed to perform statist

The prognostic landscape of adaptive immune resistance signatures and infiltrating immune cells in the tumor microenvironment of uveal melanoma.

Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common primary intraocular malignancy in adults and has a high mortality rate. Tumor microenvironment (TME) is crucial in controlling and influencing the behavior of malignant tumors. Thus, illustrating the prognostic values of adaptive immune resistance signatures and infiltrating immune cells in the TME of UM may provide scientific rationales for immunotherapy. In this study, the gene expression data of 80 primary UM and 103 primary skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) samples with relevant clinical information were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datab

Automated guided vehicle (AGV) path optimization method based on improved rapidly-exploring random trees.

In response to the issues of low computational efficiency, slow convergence speed, curvy paths, and the tendency to fall into local optima in rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) algorithms for automated guided vehicle (AGV) path planning, this article proposes an improved RRT algorithm that combines adaptive step-size optimization with K-dimensional tree (KD-Tree) based fast nearest neighbor search. Firstly, an adaptive step-size optimization strategy is introduced to dynamically adjust the step size during node searches, improving both the planning quality and computational efficiency of the

Bayesian additive regression trees for predicting childhood asthma in the CHILD cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Asthma is a heterogeneous disease that affects millions of children and adults. There is a lack of objective gold standard diagnosis that spans the ages; instead, diagnoses are made by clinician assessment based on a cluster of signs, symptoms and objective tests dependent on age. Yet, there is a clear morbidity associated with chronic asthma symptoms. Machine learning has become a popular tool to improve asthma diagnosis and classification. There is a paucity of literature on the use of Bayesian machine learning algorithms to predict asthma diagnosis in children. This paper develo

A fast analysis method for non-invasive imaging of blood flow in individual cerebral arteries using vessel-encoded arterial spin labelling angiography.

Arterial spin labelling (ASL) MRI offers a non-invasive means to create blood-borne contrast in vivo for dynamic angiographic imaging. By spatial modulation of the ASL process it is possible to uniquely label individual arteries over a series of measurements, allowing each to be separately identified in the resulting angiographic images. This separation requires appropriate analysis for which a general Bayesian framework has previously been proposed. Here this framework is adapted for clinical dynamic angiographic imaging. This specifically addresses the issues of computational speed of the al

Enhanced Precision of Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) Analysis Using Neural Network-Based Nuclear Segmentation for Digital Microscopy Samples.

Introduction: Accurate nuclear segmentation is essential for the reliable diagnostic interpretation of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) results. However, automated 2D digital algorithms often fail in samples with dense or overlapping nuclei, such as lymphomas, due to the loss of spatial depth information. Here, we tested if AI-based 3D nuclear segmentation can improve the accuracy, reproducibility, and diagnostic reliability of FISH reading in critical situations. Materials and Methods: Formalin-fixed follicular lymphoma sections were FISH-labeled for BCL2 gene rearrangements and digi

Modified beamformers for coherent source region suppression.

Many tomographic source localization algorithms used in biomagnetic imaging assume, explicitly or sometimes implicitly, that the source activity at different brain locations are either independent or that the correlation structure between sources is known. Among these algorithms is a class of adaptive spatial filters known as beamformers, which have superior spatiotemporal resolution abilities. The performance of beamformers is robust to weakly coherent sources. However, these algorithms are extremely sensitive to the presence of strongly coherent sources. A frequent mode of failure in beamfor

Sperm swarm optimization for many objective power flow problems with enhanced performance evaluation in power systems.

This research presents an advanced optimization framework motivated from biological sources using the Sperm Swarm Optimization (SSO) algorithm to specifically deal with the Many-Objective Optimal Power Flow (MaO-OPF) problem in power systems. Despite the great progress made in multi-objective optimization, convergence, diversity, and computational efficiency problems still exist-in particular, the high dimensional, multifaceted, conflicting objectives space. The proposed MaOSSO algorithm incorporates adaptive diversity mechanisms along with swarm intelligent hyper-dynamic control to address th

Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter with Correntropy Loss for Robust Power System State Estimation.

Monitoring the current operation status of the power system plays an essential role in the enhancement of the power grid for future requirements. Therefore, the real-time state estimation (SE) of the power system has been of widely-held concern. The Kalman filter is an outstanding method for the SE, and the noise in the system is generally assumed to be Gaussian noise. In the actual power system however, these measurements are usually disturbed by non-Gaussian noises in practice. Furthermore, it is hard to get the statistics of the state noise and measurement noise. As a result, a novel adapti

Te/Si Mixed-Dimensional van der Waals Heterojunction for Artificial Bionic Visual Devices.

By integrating visual adaptative devices into machine vision systems, circuits and algorithms can be more efficiently implemented, enabling adaptability and perception of images under variable light conditions. Nevertheless, this is constrained by a prolonged adaptation process. Here, 2D Te/3D Si mixed-dimensional van der Waals heterojunction is fabricated with the pyroelectric effect, exhibiting broadband detection (254 to 1680 nm) and a fast response time (200 μs). It is possible to create an adaptative machine vision system with remarkably fast adaptation at the microsecond level. In this w

GWOA: A multi-strategy enhanced whale optimization algorithm for engineering design optimization.

This paper analyzes the shortcomings of the traditional Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), mainly including the tendency to fall into local optima, slow convergence speed, and insufficient global search ability for high-dimensional and complex optimization problems. An improved Whale Optimization Algorithm (GWOA) is proposed to overcome these issues. By integrating several improvement strategies, such as adaptive parameter adjustment, enhanced prey encircling, and sine-cosine search strategies, GWOA significantly enhances global search ability and convergence efficiency. However, GWOA increas

Multi-View Test-Time Adaptation for Semantic Segmentation in Clinical Cataract Surgery.

Cataract surgery, a widely performed operation worldwide, is incorporating semantic segmentation to advance computer-assisted intervention. However, the tissue appearance and illumination in cataract surgery often differ among clinical centers, intensifying the issue of domain shifts. While domain adaptation offers remedies to the shifts, the necessity for data centralization raises additional privacy concerns. To overcome these challenges, we propose a Multi-view Test-time Adaptation algorithm (MUTA) to segment cataract surgical scenes, which leverages multi-view learning to enhance model tra

Continual test-time adaptation via weight averaging of feature augmentations in cross-domain medical image segmentation.

Continual Test-Time Adaptation (CTTA) effectively mitigates domain shifts that occur across medical institutions by allowing models to adapt at test time without revisiting the source data. Existing CTTA methods exploit transform invariance through pixel-level augmentation, but these approaches tend to produce inconsistent results in online environments, particularly critical in semantic segmentation tasks. To address these issues, we propose FAWA, a CTTA framework that combines feature-based augmentation and a weighted averaging strategy. FAWA augments features by retrieving statistical infor

Performance of Adaptive Noise Cancellation with Normalized Last-Mean-Square Based on the Signal-to-Noise Ratio of Lung and Heart Sound Separation.

The adaptive algorithm satisfies the present needs on technology for diagnosis biosignals as lung sound signals (LSSs) and accurate techniques for the separation of heart sound signals (HSSs) and other background noise from LSS. This study investigates an improved adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) based on normalized last-mean-square (NLMS) algorithm. The parameters of ANC-NLMS algorithm are the filter length (Lj ) parameter, which is determined in 2 n sequence of 2, 4, 8, 16,…, 2048, and the step size (μn ), which is automatically randomly identified using variable μn (VSS) optimization.
