LoongTrack: Exploring long-sequence modeling for visual tracking.

Visual object tracking constitutes a complex online association problem, characterized by its intricate interplay of temporal and spatial dimensions. In the current mainstream pipeline, images are typically encoded into a sequence, which is subsequently processed and fused by a transformer. However, due to the quadratic complexity of transformers, they can only carefully design complex fusion modules to extract limited spatiotemporal cues, while neglecting the spatiotemporal information inherently provided by the video frames themselves. In this paper, rather than meticulously designing networ

A graphical simulation software for instruction in cardiovascular mechanics physiology.

BACKGROUND: Computer supported, interactive e-learning systems are widely used in the teaching of physiology. However, the currently available complimentary software tools in the field of the physiology of cardiovascular mechanics have not yet been adapted to the latest systems software. Therefore, a simple-to-use replacement for undergraduate and graduate students' education was needed, including an up-to-date graphical software that is validated and field-tested. METHODS: Software compatible to Windows, based on modified versions of existing mathematical algorithms, has been newly developed

Graphic analysis of femoral growth in young children with Perthes' disease.

A cohort of 20 children, younger than 5.5 years at the time of onset of unilateral Perthes' disease, were studied by computer graphic analysis. Graphic outlines derived from each child's series of anterior posterior radiographs of the pelvis and hips were aligned on layers in a computer application such that changes over time could be directly visualized and measured. In these young children, injury to the cartilaginous growth mechanisms accounted for almost all of the abnormal change in the shape of the proximal femur; growth abnormalities had been established by the time of initial radiograp

Three-dimensional CAT scan reconstruction--pediatric patients.

Pediatric craniofacial deformities are highly complex disorders. The development of high-speed computers and related software has recently permitted three-dimensional graphics reconstruction of these deformities based on CT and NMR scan data. Such three-dimensional reconstructions are highly useful in the diagnosis, preoperative planning, and postoperative assessment of these complex deformities.

Understanding Aortic Dissection Hemodynamics: Evaluating Adapted Smoke Surfaces Against Streakline-Based Techniques.

Aortic dissection is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease characterized by blood entering the media layer of the aortic vessel wall. This creates a second flow channel, known as the false lumen, which weakens the aortic wall and can potentially lead to fatal aortic rupture. Current risk stratification of aortic dissections is primarily based on morphological features of the aorta. However, hemodynamics also play a significant role in disease progression, though their investigation and visualization remain challenging. Common flow visualizations often experience visual clutter, especially

An Adaptive Multi-Scale Manifold Embedding Preprocessing Framework for High-Dimensional Data Visualization.

To improve the robustness of neighborhood construction and the separation of intra-cluster and inter-cluster structures in high-dimensional visualization, this paper proposes Adaptive Multi-Scale Manifold Embedding (AMSME), an ordinal distance based preprocessing framework for existing manifold embedding algorithms. The framework introduces ordinal distance to replace traditional Euclidean distances. Under an idealized high-dimensional Gaussian setting, our analysis shows that ordinal distance can improve the stability of neighborhood ordering between homogeneous and heterogeneous samples, the

Visual Acuity Consistent Foveated Rendering Towards Retinal Resolution.

Prior foveated rendering methods often suffer from a limitation where the shading load escalates with increasing display resolution, leading to decreased efficiency, particularly when dealing with retinal-level resolutions. To tackle this challenge, we begin with the essence of the human visual system (HVS) perception and present visual acuity-consistent foveated rendering (VaFR), aiming to achieve exceptional rendering performance at retinal-level resolutions. Specifically, we propose a method with a novel log-polar mapping function derived from the human visual acuity model, which accommodat

Diverse Code Query Learning for Speech-Driven Facial Animation.

Speech-driven facial animation aims to synthesize lip-synchronized 3D talking faces following the given speech signal. Prior methods to this task mostly focus on pursuing realism with deterministic systems, yet characterizing the potentially stochastic nature of facial motions has been to date rarely studied. While generative modeling approaches can easily handle the one-to-many mapping by repeatedly drawing samples, ensuring a diverse mode coverage of plausible facial motions on small-scale datasets remains challenging and less explored. In this article, we propose predicting multiple samples

Virtual Reality Self Co-Embodiment: An Alternative to Mirror Therapy for Post-Stroke Upper Limb Rehabilitation.

We present Virtual Reality Self Co-embodiment, a new method for post-stroke upper limb rehabilitation. It is inspired by mirror therapy, where the patient's healthy arm is involved in recovering the affected arm's motion. By tracking the user's head, wrists, and fingers' positions, our new approach allows the handicapped arm to control a digital avatar in order to pursue a reaching task. We apply the concept of virtual co-embodiment to use the information from the unaffected arm and complete the affected limb's impaired motion, which is our added unique feature. This requires users to mechanic

The effectiveness of a graphical presentation in addition to a frequency format in the context of familial breast cancer risk communication: a multicenter controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Inadequate understanding of risk among counselees is a common problem in familial cancer clinics. It has been suggested that graphical displays can help counselees understand cancer risks and subsequent decision-making. We evaluated the effects of a graphical presentation in addition to a frequency format on counselees' understanding, psychological well-being, and preventive intentions. DESIGN: Multicenter controlled trial. SETTING: Three familial cancer clinics in the Netherlands. PARTICIPANTS: Unaffected women with a breast cancer family history (first-time attendees). INTERV

Computerized use of ICP data. Preliminary elements on the shunt patient.

An incorrect choice of valve may produce a delay in psychomotor development in shunted hydrocephalic children. The intracranial pressure was measured for 24 h in 20 subjects suffering from nontumoral hydrocephalus, obtaining a pressure/volume index with compliance and perfusion pressure data. Their data were entered into a computer and used to determine the correct valve to be chosen.

A Spiking Neural Simulator Integrating Event-Driven and Time-Driven Computation Schemes Using Parallel CPU-GPU Co-Processing: A Case Study.

Time-driven simulation methods in traditional CPU architectures perform well and precisely when simulating small-scale spiking neural networks. Nevertheless, they still have drawbacks when simulating large-scale systems. Conversely, event-driven simulation methods in CPUs and time-driven simulation methods in graphic processing units (GPUs) can outperform CPU time-driven methods under certain conditions. With this performance improvement in mind, we have developed an event-and-time-driven spiking neural network simulator suitable for a hybrid CPU-GPU platform. Our neural simulator is able to e

Prediction of Postoperative Pancreatic Fistula Occurrence by the Pancreatic Stump Shape and Remnant Pancreatic Volume Measured Using AI-Guided Three-Dimensional Simulation.

BACKGROUND: When three-dimensional computer graphics (3DCG) images are used, artificial intelligence (AI) engines can semiautomatically estimate the pancreatic thickness, pancreatic stump shape (PSS), surface area of the resected pancreatic stump, and remnant pancreatic volume (RPV). Here, we report the potential applications of the PSS and RPV and investigate postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) risk factors. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We included 109 patients with pancreatic cancer in this study. First, we employed the roundness value to objectively evaluate the PSS. The correlations between

Enhancing online interaction through avatar-based dialogue systems utilizing the approaching movement.

The rise in online interactions has introduced multiple challenges, including confusion during virtual meetings and fatigue associated with prolonged video conferencing. To address these issues, this study advocates using computer graphics (CG) avatars in dialogue systems that do not rely on camera feeds. Avatars have the potential to diminish gaze-related misunderstandings and reduce dissatisfaction arising from viewing oneself in video calls. Moreover, fatigue from continuous face-to-face interaction in multi-person conversations can be mitigated by avatar usage. Previous studies indicate th

Stereoscopic neuroanatomy lectures using a three-dimensional virtual reality environment.

INTRODUCTION: Three-dimensional (3D) computer graphics are increasingly used to supplement the teaching of anatomy. While most systems consist of a program which produces 3D renderings on a workstation with a standard screen, the Dextrobeam virtual reality VR environment allows the presentation of spatial neuroanatomical models to larger groups of students through a stereoscopic projection system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Second-year medical students (n=169) were randomly allocated to receive a standardised pre-recorded audio lecture detailing the anatomy of the third ventricle accompanied by e

The effect of visual and interaction fidelity on spatial cognition in immersive virtual environments.

Accuracy of memory performance per se is an imperfect reflection of the cognitive activity (awareness states) that underlies performance in memory tasks. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of varied visual and interaction fidelity of immersive virtual environments on memory awareness states. A between groups experiment was carried out to explore the effect of rendering quality on location-based recognition memory for objects and associated states of awareness. The experimental space, consisting of two interconnected rooms, was rendered either flat-shaded or using radiosity r

Panic and agoraphobia in a virtual world.

Virtual reality (VR) offers a great new perspective on what it can offer an individual. These new approaches can give an individual the immersion and cognitive guidance that they need to help overcome his or her disorder. VR differs from the traditional displays in computer graphics as these various displays are integrated to give the user a sense of presence or immersion in the virtual world. To more effectively treat panic and agoraphobic patients using VR, it is necessary to determine the physiological responses of nonphobics when placed in the virtual panic and agoraphobia environments.
