PRESENTATION: This case reports details a fingertip amputation injury. The patient was vitally stable post-injury and blood loss was controlled with direct pressure.
DIAGNOSIS: The injury was inspected and found to involve the finger pulp and nailbed, without exposure of the terminal phalanx (Allen 2).
TREATMENT: The avulsed tissue was initially placed in situ at the site of the injury. At day 3 the viable dermis from the avulsed tissue was dissected away and a split-thickness dermal graft was performed. The graft was held in place with antibacterial dressings. Epithelialisation was complete

While histological diagnosis of Paget disease of vulva is mostly straightforward, identifying and confirming invasion can be challenging. Often invasion is accompanied by epidermal hyperplasia, marked inflammatory response and desmoplastic reaction. Diagnosis of invasion in Paget disease portends a poor outcome. We report findings from a recurrent primary vulvar Paget disease where overall histomorphology of possible invasive disease is unusual and raises a possibility of displacement of Paget cells in the dermis. Fingertip injuries are among the most common injuries of the hand. Although numerous treatment methods have been described in detail in the literature, there are a few alternatives that require exploration. We analyzed 24 patients who underwent one-stage artificial dermis (Pelnac®) reconstruction surgery between 2012 and 2016 to assess the effectiveness of this alternative reconstruction method for extensive fingertip injury with exposed phalanx. Three infants with unilateral congenital anophthalmia and contracted sockets received early dermis fat and eyelid skin grafts, plus progressive conformer therapy. This approach expanded socket volume, improved periorbital and eyelid dimensions, and enhanced facial esthetics. All patients successfully adapted to ocular prostheses, showing the benefits of timely intervention and reconstruction.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the distribution and amount of elastic fibers in the dermis of clinically normal dogs and dogs with dermatoses, particularly solar dermatitis.
DESIGN: Skin specimens from 7 anatomic sites were obtained from 19 clinically normal dogs after euthanasia to evaluate the normal distribution of elastic fibers. Biopsy specimens also were obtained from 34 dogs with dermatoses, including 16 with solar dermatitis. Tissue sections were stained with H&E, Verhoeff-van Gieson, and periodic acid-Schiff.
