RATIONALE: The Goodpasture syndrome is an extremely rare disease, with renal and pulmonary manifestations, and is mediated by anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibodies. Renal pathological changes are mainly characterized by glomerular crescent formation and linear immunofluorescent staining for immunoglobulin G on the GBM. There are few reports on the atypical course of the syndrome involving serum-negative anti-GBM antibodies. Therefore, we present a case of Goodpasture syndrome that presented with nephrotic-range proteinuria and was seronegative for anti-GBM antibodies.

The hematological parameters were assayed in Plasmodium vivax patients with only one infection, two infections, three infections and more than three malarial infections during a period of six months. The degree of lymphogemy in persons who died of different causes (including drowning) was studied by histologic analysis of the thoracic lymphatic ducts. It was found that quantitative estimation of the presented feature makes it possible to estimate the specific type of drowning which depends on the level of venous hypertension in the system of superior vena cava. This phenomena is strongly marked in spastic and mixed types of drowning and is absent in aspiration and reflex types.

Density distributions were determined for sickle cell erythrocytes from 27 patients with HbSS genotype using the phthalate ester microcapillary differential flotation method of Danon and Marikovsky.
