OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of flexible ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy in treating calyceal diverticular calculi with stenotic infundibulum and to present our initial experience.

BACKGROUND: Holmium laser enucleation (HoLEP) is an alternative to transurethral resection (TURP) of the prostate for symptomatic prostatic obstruction.
METHODS: Randomized controlled trials comparing HoLEP and TURP were identified systematically using Medline, Embase and The Cochrane Library. Primary outcomes were peak urinary flow rate (Qmax), postvoid residual volume, symptom score and quality of life. OBJECTIVES: To report our experience with holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) combined with mechanical morcellation for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
METHODS: From January 2000 to May 2001, 155 consecutive patients with BPH underwent HoLEP combined with mechanical morcellation and were followed up for at least 6 months. Few series exist in the literature of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) after prostatic urethral lift (PUL). Even less well known are potential complications seen after a patient undergoes PUL followed by HoLEP. Duplication of renal system is one of the commonest renal anomalies. It is infrequently associated with renal calculus, ureterocele and vesico ureteric reflux. We report a 29-year male with right complete duplex system having upper moiety multiple ureteric calculi and lower moiety inferior renal calculus.
