Four cases of epithelial downgrowth following cataract surgery were studied by electron microscopy. The invading epithelium was excised by posterior keratectomy, iridectomy, and vitrectomy. Diagnostic photocoagulation on the iris was performed before the operations in all cases. A series of 34 patients with Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy was studied to investigate a possible association with hypermetropia and angleclosure glaucoma. The refraction, axial length, anterior chamber depth, and prevalence of angle-closure glaucoma of the patients were compared with those of a control group of 56 patients. PURPOSE: We present rates of acute primary angle-closure glaucoma (APACG), peripheral iridotomy (PI) and cataract surgery in Scotland between 1998 and 2012.
METHODS: The number of patients in Scotland with APACG in each of the years between 1998 and 2012 was obtained from Information Service Division (ISD) Scotland. Data was also obtained for patients who had undergone laser PI and cataract surgery. The annual rates of APACG, PI and cataract surgery were calculated using Scotland's population data during each of these years.

PURPOSE: We present a novel office-based technique using a 25-gauge needle to reopen closed peripheral iridotomies in aphakic eyes filled with silicone oil.
METHODS: We use a 25-gauge needle to enter the clear cornea and reopen the closed peripheral iridotomy, allowing for aqueous humor and silicone oil to escape and relieve elevated intraocular pressure.
RESULTS: This minimally invasive office-based approach provides immediate relief of elevated intraocular pressure due to silicone oil-induced pupillary block, avoiding the need for more invasive surgical intervention.

We present the case of a patient with a history of laser-treated retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) who developed narrow angles and intermittent angle closure. Despite laser peripheral iridotomy/iridoplasty, 1 year later, the patient had recurrent narrowing that resolved following clear lens extraction with intraocular lens placement. This case highlights the importance of continued monitoring for narrow angles in patients with ROP history.

CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION: A 56-year-old man initially presented with a 6-month duration of a continuous, diffuse headache of mild to moderate and sometimes of severe intensity. A CT of the brain was normal. Neurological examination was normal, including absence of symptoms and signs of meningismus.
