Nanometer-sized fluorescent particles were synthesized in an aqueous solution using TGA (mercaptoacetic acid) as the stabilizer. The prepared solution was characterized by fluorescence spectroscopy and applied for detection of latent fingermarks on adhesives. Highly fluorescent CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with emission in red to near-infrared (NIR) wavelength were successfully prepared by using 3-mercaptobutyric acid (3MBA) as capping agent. The maximum of quantum yield (QY) could reach up to 82% for QDs with emission peak at 686 nm and FWHM of 66 nm at optimal conditions. A novel method for the quantitative determination of ranitidine hydrochloride (RNH) based on the fluorescence quenching of functionalised CdS quantum dots (QDs) by RNH in aqueous solution was proposed. The family of interferon-induced transmembrane protein (IFITM) genes consists of IFITM1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. They encode cell surface proteins that modulate cell-cell adhesion and cell differentiation. In a previous study, we showed that IFITM1 is involved in the immune escape and metastasis of gastric cancer cells. In this study, we determined the difference in expression of IFITM family genes in tumor-bearing mice. IFITM1 and 6 were found to be significantly increased. IFITM6 gene expression was increased only in the spleen of tumor-bearing mice but not in the bone marrow, lymph node, or thymus.

We describe novel, cell-permeable, and bioavailable salicylic acid derivatives that are potent and selective inhibitors of GLEPP1/protein-tyrosine phosphatase . Two previously described GLEPP1 substrates, paxillin and Syk, are both required for cytoskeletal rearrangement and cellular motility of leukocytes in chemotaxis.
