Racial Differences in Willingness to Use Doxycycline Postexposure Prophylaxis Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in the United States.

We examined racial differences in willingness to use doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxy PEP) to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among men who have sex with men (MSM) who have not heard of and not used doxy PEP before taking this survey. Most MSM in our study were willing to use doxy PEP. Black, non-Hispanic MSM and Hispanic MSM were more willing to use doxy PEP than White, non-Hispanic MSM. Doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis is an acceptable STI prevention approach among MSM, especially among racial/ethnic minority MSM who are disproportionately affected by bacterial S

A therapeutic dose of zolpidem has limited abuse-like effects in drug-naïve females: a pilot study.

Zolpidem has abuse potential, particularly among individuals with histories of drug abuse. This double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross over pilot study investigated the subjective effects of zolpidem (10 mg) in drug-naïve females. Over the course of a 5-h period vital signs were monitored and a series of computerized questionnaires was administered. Results indicate that zolpidem engendered subjective effects characteristic of hypnotic drugs, but reduced ratings of drug liking, willing to take again, and willing to pay for, relative to placebo. Thus, a therapeutic dose of zolpidem may have li

Longitudinal bidirectional associations between personality and becoming a leader.

OBJECTIVE: Leaders differ in their personalities from non-leaders. However, when do these differences emerge? Are leaders "born to be leaders" or does their personality change in preparation for a leadership role and due to increasing leadership experience? METHOD: Using data from the German Socio-Economic Panel Study, we examined personality differences between leaders (N = 2683 leaders, women: n = 967; 36.04%) and non-leaders (N = 33,663) as well as personality changes before and after becoming a leader. RESULTS: Already in the years before starting a leadership position, leaders-to-be wer

Risk perception in natalizumab-treated multiple sclerosis patients and their neurologists.

BACKGROUND: Natalizumab is associated with the potentially life-threatening side-effect progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). Little is known about patients' and physicians' risk estimates and attitudes towards natalizumab treatment. METHODS: Consecutive natalizumab-treated patients (n = 69) and neurologists (n = 66) in two centres and cooperating private practices received an evidence-based three-page information leaflet about natalizumab-associated PML and an evaluation sheet. RESULTS: After reading the information, patients were significantly more likely than physicians to int

Understanding Providers' Attitude Toward AI in India's Informal Health Care Sector: Survey Study.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health concern, causing 1.5 million deaths in 2020. Diagnostic tests for TB are often inaccurate, expensive, and inaccessible, making chest x-rays augmented with artificial intelligence (AI) a promising solution. However, whether providers are willing to adopt AI is not apparent. OBJECTIVE: The study seeks to understand the attitude of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and informal health care providers, who we jointly call AIPs, toward adopting AI for TB diagnosis. We chose to study these providers as they a

Knowledge, attitudes, and perception of the role of the media regarding COVID-19 in medical students from a peruvian university.

A cross-sectional study was carried out on medical students from a private Peruvian university. The aim was to describe knowledge and attitudes towards COVID-19 as well as the student's perception of the role of media outlets and social media. Of the students, 32% did not know that during the first five days of illness, serological tests are preferred for diagnosing COVID-19 over molecular tests; 73% reported being willing to work as a volunteer during the pandemic, and 94% received false information regarding COVID-19 on social media. This study demonstrated that information regarding diagnos

Gaps between willingness and uptake of influenza and COVID-19 vaccines during the 2025-26 respiratory virus season in a U.S. adult cohort.

During the 2025-26 respiratory virus season, changes to COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, recommendations, and communication may have made vaccination follow-through especially challenging. Under-vaccination may reflect not only lack of willingness, but also breakdowns between willingness and uptake. We analyzed data from 3390 adults in the CHASING COVID Cohort who completed assessments in August 2025 and March 2026 to examine gaps between vaccine willingness and subsequent influenza and COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccine willingness was defined using prior-season vaccination and stated intention to va

Global Public Perceptions of Genomic Data Sharing: What Shapes the Willingness to Donate DNA and Health Data?

Analyzing genomic data across populations is central to understanding the role of genetic factors in health and disease. Successful data sharing relies on public support, which requires attention to whether people around the world are willing to donate their data that are then subsequently shared with others for research. However, studies of such public perceptions are geographically limited and do not enable comparison. This paper presents results from a very large public survey on attitudes toward genomic data sharing. Data from 36,268 individuals across 22 countries (gathered in 15 language

Adherence to, and acceptability of, Listerine® mouthwash as a potential preventive intervention for pharyngeal gonorrhoea among men who have sex with men in Australia: a longitudinal study.

We investigated whether men who have sex with men (MSM) would use mouthwash daily to prevent pharyngeal gonorrhoea. Ten MSM attending the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre were asked to use a Listerine® alcohol-containing mouthwash daily for 14 days in August 2015. Mouthwash was used at least once daily for 133 of 140 person-days (95% of days; 95% confidence interval 90-98%). All 10 men were willing to use mouthwash on a daily basis, and nine men were willing to use mouthwash after oral sex. This study showed that daily use of mouthwash is an acceptable intervention to prevent pharyngeal gonorrho
