Biological control is a promising measure in the control of plant disease. In the present study, we isolated 13 endophytic strains from Angelica dahurica. Among them, an endophytic strain which was named GYLH001 exhibited remarkable activity against Magnaporthe oryzae. 16S rRNA sequence analysis, biochemical and physiological proved that it is Bacillus tequilensis. The sterilized culture filtrate of GYLH001 can inhibit the growth of M.oryzae, which suggests the presence of secondary metabolites. OBJECTIVE: To find herbs with effects on adhesion and migration of melanocytes in vitro.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ethanol extracts from 14 herbs were tested. Normal human melanocytes were obtained from neonatal foreskin, and the 48-well culture dish covered with fibronectin was used for the melanocyte adhesion assay. Motility was assessed by using the micropore filter method.

BACKGROUND: The Xin-yi-san herbal decoction (XYS) is commonly used to treat patients with allergic rhinitis in Taiwan. Theophylline is primarily oxidized with high affinity by human cytochrome P450 (CYP)1A2, and has a narrow therapeutic index.
PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the inhibition of human CYP1A2-catalyzed theophylline oxidation (THO) by XYS and its adverse effects in patients.

Herein we describe the facile synthesis of new N-doped carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) obtained from 1,10-phenanthroline by the solvothermal method. Characterization of CNPs were carried out with transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), UV-vis absorption spectra, and luminescence spectra.
