The purpose of this study was to evaluate the penetration depth of the water coolant for medicament lavage of an ultrasonic device into the periodontal pocket. Patients having teeth previously planned for extraction, and exhibiting probing depths 3 mm or greater were used in this study. A young woman presented with a classic fixed drug eruption (FDE) after taking the inactive green pills of her oral contraceptives (OCs). A colorimetric assay for the determination of heavy metal ions is presented that is based on the regulation of the oxidase-mimicking activity of Mn3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) by oligonucleotides. The chromogenic agent tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) is oxidized by the catalytic action of Mn3O4 NPs to generate products that have a yellow color in acidic solution, with a peak at 450 nm. The combined use of non-invasive on-site portable techniques, Raman microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy on seven imperial bowls and two decorated dishes, attributed to the reigns of the Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, and Daoguang emperors (Qing Dynasty), allows the identification of the coloring agents/opacifiers and composition types of the glazes and painted enamels. Podoconiosis is a disease that causes swelling and disfiguration of the lower legs found in several developing countries where shoes are not regularly worn.
