Fertility preservation by photodynamic therapy combined with conization in young patients with early stage cervical cancer: a pilot study.

BACKGROUND: Vaginal radical trachelectomy (VRT) is the standard fertility preserving procedure for early stage cervical cancer patients. There have been reports in the literature, however, that VRT to be too radical procedure for early stage cervical cancer, as its post-operative obstetric morbidity was high. In this study, PDT with Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) or conization was investigated as a less radical fertility preserving treatment alternative to VRT for early stage cervical cancer patients. METHODS: We analyzed data of 21 patients with early stage cervical cancer (s

Laser ablation combined with photodynamic therapy for complex vaginal HSIL after repeat cervical conizations: a case report.

Cervical and vaginal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) are typically managed by excision or ablation. However, surgical excision is restricted in young women. In this case report, complex vaginal HSIL was diagnosed in a 38-year-old woman who previously received two conization treatments of cervical HSIL. The patient underwent two courses of CO₂ laser ablation for cervical and vaginal lesions, followed by two courses of PDT to residual lesions in the vaginal vault. Six months' follow-up revealed pathological cure and HPV clearance. Laser ablation combined with PDT is an effecti

Post-Conization HPV Vaccination and Its Impact on Viral Status: A Retrospective Cohort Study in Troms and Finnmark, 2022.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is associated with cellular changes in the cervix leading to cancer, which highlights the importance of vaccination in preventing HPV infections and subsequent cellular changes. Women undergoing the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), a treatment for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2+), remain at risk of recurrence. This study assessed the effect of post-conization HPV vaccination on the viral status of women at six months post-conization, aiming to evaluate the vaccine's effectiveness in preventing recurrence of CIN2+. A retrospective c
