What Is the Interversion Reliability and Agreement Between the Decision Tree Patient-rated Wrist Evaluation and the Full-length Version?

BACKGROUND: A frequently used strategy to improve patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) response rates and reduce patients' burden with PROM completion is item reduction. In this context, a shortened decision tree version of the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (DT-PRWE) was developed, reducing the number of items from 15 to 5. The DT-PRWE demonstrated excellent psychometric properties in simulated data; however, its psychometric properties have not yet been evaluated in a real-world clinical setting. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES: (1) What is the interversion reliability and agreement between the DT-PR

Large Language Model - Enhanced Decision Tree Framework for Identifying Multiple Sclerosis Diagnoses from Clinical Documentation.

BACKGROUND: Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial in multiple sclerosis (MS), yet diagnostic delays are common. Large language models (LLMs) such as generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs) may help streamline diagnostic workflows by extracting MS diagnostic signals from clinical notes. OBJECTIVE: To derive MS diagnosis status from the first neurology note using a computable algorithm based on the 2017 McDonald criteria and applying GPT-4 for node-level reasoning within a structured decision framework. METHODS: We analyzed first neurology notes from 125 randomly selected patients (i

Predicting endovascular recanalization success in symptomatic chronic carotid occlusion: A decision tree model based on 321 cases.

BACKGROUND: Endovascular recanalization for chronic internal carotid artery occlusion (CICAO) remains technically challenging, with variable success rates and a lack of reliable predictive tools for patient selection. We aim to analyze risk factors associated with failed recanalization in CICAO patients and develop a decision tree model to quantify individualized recanalization potential. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 321 patients with symptomatic CICAO who underwent endovascular recanalization. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify risk factors for recanalization

Inclusion of blood pressure parameter increases predictive capability of severe obstructive sleep apnea: A decision tree approach.

Few studies included objective blood pressure (BP) to construct the predictive model of severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This study used binary logistic regression model (BLRM) and the decision tree method (DTM) to constructed the predictive models for identifying severe OSA, and to compare the prediction capability between the two methods. Totally 499 adult patients with severe OSA and 1421 non-severe OSA controls examined at the Sleep Medicine Center of a tertiary hospital in southern Taiwan between October 2016 and April 2019 were enrolled. OSA was diagnosed through polysomnography. Da

Identifying intersectional groups at risk for missing breast cancer screening: Comparing regression- and decision tree-based approaches.

Malignant neoplasm of the breast was the fifth leading cause of death among women in Germany in 2020. To improve early detection, nationwide breast cancer screening (BCS) programmes for women 50-69 have been implemented since 2005. However, Germany has not reached the European benchmark of 70% participation, and socio-demographic inequalities persist. At the same time, challenges exist to identify groups of women at high risk for non-participation, since it is likely that this is due to disadvantages on multiple social dimensions. This study, therefore, aimed to identify intersectional groups

The effect of surveillance for differentiated thyroid carcinoma in childhood cancer survivors on survival rates: a decision-tree-based analysis.

BACKGROUND: Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) who received radiation therapy exposing the thyroid gland are at increased risk of developing differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Therefore, the International Guideline Harmonization Group (IGHG) on late effects of childhood cancer therefore recommends surveillance. It is unclear whether surveillance reduces mortality. AIM: The aim of this study was to compare four strategies for DTC surveillance in CCS with the aim of reducing mortality: Strategy-1, no surveillance; Strategy-2, ultrasound alone; Strategy-3, ultrasound followed by fine-needle biop

Finding Children with High Risk of Non-Vaccination in 92 Low- and Middle-Income Countries: A Decision Tree Approach.

Reducing vaccination inequalities is a key goal of the Immunization Agenda 2030. Our main objective was to identify high-risk groups of children who received no vaccines (zero-dose children). A decision tree approach was used for 92 low- and middle-income countries using data from Demographic and Health Surveys and Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, allowing the identification of groups of children aged 12-23 months at high risk of being zero dose (no doses of the four basic vaccines-BCG, polio, DPT and measles). Three high-risk groups were identified in the analysis combining all countries.

Ability of Procalcitonin and C-Reactive Protein for Discriminating between Bacterial and Enteroviral Meningitis in Children Using Decision Tree.

Bacterial meningitis (BM) is a public health burden in developing countries, including Central Asia. This disease is characterized by a high mortality rate and serious neurological complications. Delay with the start of adequate therapy is associated with an increase in mortality for patients with acute bacterial meningitis. Cerebrospinal fluid culture, as a gold standard in bacterial meningitis diagnosis, is time-consuming with modest sensitivity, and this is unsuitable for timely decision-making. It has been shown that bacterial meningitis differentiation from viral meningitis could be done

Dairy cattle behavior classifications based on decision tree learning using 3-axis neck-mounted accelerometers.

Demand has been increasing recently for an automated monitoring system of animal behavior as a tool for the management of livestock animals. This study investigated the association between the behavior of dairy cattle and the acceleration data collected using three-axis neck-mounted accelerometers, as well as the feasibility of improving the precision of behavior classifications through machine learning. In total 38 Holstein dairy cows were used, and kept in four different farms. A logger was mounted to each collar to obtain acceleration data for calculating the activity level and variations.
