Musculoskeletal Simulation Tools for Understanding Mechanisms of Lower-Limb Sports Injuries.

Musculoskeletal simulation and dynamic modeling programs have been used to gain insight into lower-limb musculoskeletal injury mechanisms. In addition to the temporospatial, kinematic, and kinetic data obtained from motion analysis systems, musculoskeletal simulation programs also can provide information on joint contact and muscle forces, musculotendinous lengths and velocities, and muscle activation levels. Musculoskeletal simulation platforms may help in the assessment of risk factors for sports-related injuries. Using musculoskeletal simulations for injury prevention programs may help lowe

Bridging Emotion in the Classroom with Child Understanding: Initial Findings from Linguistic Analysis for SEL Programs.

Research on how children develop emotion concepts is vital to successful, culturally sensitive social-emotional learning (SEL) programs that account for individual differences in the development of SEL skills. This study presents a thematic analysis of child emotion definitions and potential implications for SEL programs as an exploration of how children are taught about emotions and to center child voice in SEL research. It is the first, to the researchers' knowledge, to link child emotion representation with SEL programs by analyzing emotion-focused program content through the lens of a chil

Molecular dynamics reveals novel small-molecule inhibitors block PD-1/PD-L1 by promoting PD-L1 dimer stability.

In the field of cancer immunotherapy, the development of small-molecule inhibitors targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 signaling pathway has emerged as a pivotal research direction to overcome the clinical limitations of current antibody-based therapeutics. Based on the lead compound BMS-202, this study systematically elucidated the dynamic binding mechanisms of three novel inhibitors (BMS-202, LP23, A56) with the PD-L1 dimer through molecular dynamics simulations and multifaceted analysis. Results demonstrated that A56 exhibits superior binding stability and the strongest binding affinity among the thre

Tissues as a synthetic target - a framework for the multiscale molecular design of thermogelling polymers.

Tissues are living, water-swollen composite polymer networks whose dynamic biochemical composition, hierarchical architecture, and mechanics collectively regulate cell behavior and physiological function. Recreating these properties across biological and biomedical contexts (e.g., 2D and 3D cell culture, tissue engineering, organoid culture, and regenerative medicine) remains a critical challenge as existing synthetic matrices cannot fully recapitulate the multiscale organization and dynamic properties of native extracellular matrices. Most hydrogel platforms rely on "drag-n-drop" combinations

A One Health Decalogue for Breastfeeding: Microbiota-Targeted Strategies for Infant Gastrointestinal and Neurodevelopmental Health.

Background/Objectives: Breastfeeding represents a critical developmental window during which maternal biology, environmental exposures, and nutrition converge to influence infant gastrointestinal health and long-term developmental trajectories. From a One Health perspective, breastfeeding can be conceptualized not as a static nutritional act, but as a dynamic and modifiable biological system in which maternal factors shape early-life microbiota assembly and immune programming. This narrative review explores how microbiota-oriented strategies during breastfeeding may foster a favorable trajecto

A home-based resistance-training program using elastic bands for elderly patients with orthostatic hypotension.

UNLABELLED: Falls are a common hazard in the elderly. Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is prevalent in older patients and contributes to the high incidence of falls. Our aim was to test whether a home-based resistance-training program (HBRT) using elastic resistance bands could safely and effectively increase muscle strength and functional ability, and attenuate the orthostatic fall in blood pressure. Eight subjects (> 60 yrs) underwent orthostatic provocations; muscle strength testing (isometric and dynamic), and a functional test of gait and mobility (Timed Up & Go), at baseline and following 8

RhoDyn: A ρ-TD-RASCI Framework to Study Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in Molecules.

This article presents the program module RhoDyn as part of the OpenMOLCAS project intended to study ultrafast electron dynamics within the density-matrix-based time-dependent restricted active space configuration interaction framework (ρ-TD-RASCI). The formalism allows for the treatment of spin-orbit coupling effects, accounts for nuclear vibrations in the form of a vibrational heat bath, and naturally incorporates (auto)ionization effects. Apart from describing the theory behind and the program workflow, the paper also contains examples of its application to the simulations of the linear L2,3

Personalized Adaptive Assistance With Reinforcement Learning Control Enhances Engagement, Performance, and Retention in Robot-Assisted Arm-Reaching Exercises.

This study introduces a new Reinforcement Learning Assist-as-Needed (RL-AAN) controller intended for robot-assisted upper-limb rehabilitation after stroke, which leverages a modified action-dependent heuristic dynamic programming (ADHDP) framework. Unlike conventional adaptive assist-as-needed controllers based on Iterative Learning Control (ILC-AAN), the proposed RL-AAN controller autonomously adjusts the trade-off between movement errors and robot assistance in response to the user's recent performance, in real-time, while relying on a small set of high-level tunable parameters that do not r

Transferable Deep Reinforcement Learning With Edge-Contour-Depth Fusion for Autonomous Wireless Capsule Endoscopy Navigation.

Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) enables painless, minimally invasive visualization of the gastrointestinal tract. Still, its diagnostic potential is limited by incomplete mucosal coverage and poor transferability of existing navigation methods across patient anatomies. We propose a transferable, anatomical landmark-guided deep reinforcement learning framework for robust autonomous gastric navigation. Leveraging a lightweight edge-contour-depth fusion module, our policy operates on stable, low-dimensional landmark coordinates rather than high-dimensional video streams. This design effectively

Collision-programmed Selectivity in CO2 Electrochemical Reduction via Co-engineering Electron Transfer Duty Cycle and Proton Transport.

Selectivity of electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (ECO2RR) is typically pursued by optimizing immobilized catalyst films biased at constant potential, an approach referred to as "catalyst-fixed electrochemistry". This architecture hinges on two variables that are difficult to tune: the electron-transfer (ET) environment and local mass transport. Here we introduce a fundamentally different concept: a "catalyst-fluidized electrochemistry" platform, where freely suspended catalyst particles make stochastic, short-lived contacts with the electrode. This dynamic system co-engineers the ET duty

Research on Stereolithography-Based Shape Memory Polymers/Fe3O4 Composite Ceramic Precursor Four-Dimensional Printing.

Four-dimensional (4D) printing is a cutting-edge additive manufacturing technique that enables dynamic deformation of three-dimensional printed components under external stimuli. Polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs) feature excellent design flexibility, corrosion and wear resistance, but ceramic 4D printing still faces critical drawbacks including inferior deformability, low forming precision, poor slurry-photopolymerization compatibility, and single-response actuation limits. This study proposes an innovative strategy for high-resolution, programmable multi-responsive ceramic 4D printing to tackle

Dietary Regulation of Intestinal Stem Cell Function: Nutrient-Sensing, Microbiota-Mediated, and Regenerative Mechanisms from a Dietetic Perspective.

The intestinal epithelium is a dynamic tissue renewed by intestinal stem cells (ISCs) within the crypt niche. ISC behavior is regulated not only by intrinsic genetic programs but also by dietary composition, nutrient availability, microbial metabolites, and feeding rhythms. This narrative review synthesizes mechanisms through which diet influences ISC self-renewal, proliferation, differentiation, metabolic programming, and regenerative capacity. Dietary patterns exert context-dependent effects: caloric restriction, fasting, and structured feeding-fasting cycles may enhance epithelial regenerat

Gold Nanoparticles for Antiviral Applications: Design Principles, Surface Engineering, and Mechanistic Insights.

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have emerged as versatile antiviral nanoplatforms because their size, morphology, plasmonic properties, and surface chemistry can be precisely engineered. In this review, we summarize the core design principles of antiviral AuNPs from a structure-function-mechanism perspective. We first outline representative synthetic and interface-programming routes for AuNP preparation, including citrate reduction, Brust-Schiffrin synthesis, seed-mediated growth, green synthesis, direct thiol-conjugation, and mixed-ligand shell strategies, emphasizing how these approaches define p
