OBJECTIVES: To review the clinical presentation of complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) and assess the current practice of considering the diagnosis of CAIS in female infants presenting with inguinal hernia.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: AIS arises from target tissue resistance to the actions of androgens due to molecular abnormalities in the androgen receptor. Graves' disease is the most common form of hyperthyroidism, especially in younger people.
