In 3 cases of acrodermatitis enteropathica duodenal biopsy performed at the outset of treatment showed a similar abnormality of the intestinal mucosa. Further biopsies taken during treatment showed progressive improvement of the intestinal mucosa with subsequent complete restoration of the normal cellular and villous pattern. Electron transport components involved in H2 oxidation were studied in membranes from Rhizobium japonicum bacteroids. Hydrogen oxidation in membranes was inhibited by antimycin A and 2-n-heptyl-4-hydroxyquinoline-N-oxide with Ki values of 39.4 and 5.6 microM, respectively. This review presents our 10-year experience with children diagnosed with Sjögren's syndrome (SS). Patients between the ages of 9 and 17 years had abnormalities in laboratory values consistent with but not entirely diagnostic of those required to diagnose SS in adults. The spectrum of clinical manifestations suggests that the SS clinical phenotype in children is more variable than that in adults. Here, we review manifestations of SS in children. Our patients were treated with hydroxychloroquine, despite the lack of prospective data about effects on SS progression and/or autoantibody spreading.

IMPORTANCE OF THE FIELD: Prostate cancer is the mostly commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in males. The culmination of the last 70 years of clinical drug development has documented that androgen ablation plus taxane-based systemic chemotherapy enhances survival, but is not curative, in metastatic prostate cancer.
