INTRODUCTION: Carotid artery dissection (CAD) is a critical diagnosis in the emergency department (ED). Trigeminal neuralgia, while not uncommon, may cause the patient significant discomfort but generally is not attributed to severe morbidity and mortality.

Thunderstorm Ground Enhancements (TGEs), sometimes referred to as gamma-ray glows, are transient increases in surface-level gamma-ray flux driven by thunderstorm electric fields. This study investigates two TGE events observed on January 4-6 and January 14, 2018, at the Emilio Segre Cosmic-Ray Observatory on Mount Hermon in northern Israel. INTRODUCTION: Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) is a rare but potentially serious condition, particularly when extending into the inferior vena cava (IVC). It can arise from nephrotic syndrome, hypercoagulable states, or infection, and may compromise renal function or lead to embolic complications. While anticoagulation remains the cornerstone of therapy, endovascular mechanical thrombectomy is emerging as a viable option in selected cases. We report a patient with human T-cell lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) infection, who presented with proximal extremity neurogenic muscular weakness followed by fulminant myelopathy, but with no upper motor symptoms. The symptoms were inconsistent with the World Health Organization or El Escorial criteria for HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We present a previously unreported set of symptoms in a patient found to have bilateral vertebral dissections. Although visual symptoms are common in vertebral dissection, their pattern does not typically mimic those that commonly precede or accompany migraine headache. We report on a 7-month-old boy (4.2 kg/60 cm) with severe immunodeficiency disorder and bacterial septicaemia who was referred for an infected atrial thrombus secondary to a jugular central line. To test the hypothesis that exposure to high intensity lightning (around 400 nanometers) in neonatal nurseries increases the incidence of childhood leukemia, over 55,120 newborn children treated with phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia were identified from the Danish Hospital Discharge Register for 1977-89.
