Factor Structure and Construct Validity of the Pain Resilience Scale Within Chinese Adult Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain Samples.

Recent U.S. studies of musculoskeletal pain have supported the structure and construct validity of the Pain Resilience Scale (PRS) as a pain-specific measure tapping capacities to regulate cognitions and emotions as well as behavioral perseverance despite ongoing pain. However, it is not clear whether psychometric support for the PRS extends to chronic musculoskeletal pain samples in other countries or whether PRS scores contribute to adaptation beyond the impact of general resilience. To address these gaps, the factor structure, construct validity, and incremental validity of the PRS were ass

Validity and reliability of a Turkish Brief Pain Inventory Short Form when used to evaluate musculoskeletal pain.

BACKGROUND: The Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) is both a questionnaire and an outcome measure that is used widely in clinical trials to assess pain associated with many conditions. The BPI Short Form has been extensively translated into foreign languages. The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of a Turkish Brief Pain Inventory Short Form (BPI-TR) to evaluate musculoskeletal pain. METHODS: In total, 297 patients with musculoskeletal pain participated in the study. Demographic characteristics and brief medical histories were recorded. Pain intensity was assessed using a vi

Perceived discrimination and pain outcomes among black adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain: identifying modifiable psychosocial risk factors.

Chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) is highly prevalent, frequently associated with negative health outcomes, and disproportionately impacts Black Americans. Perceived racial and ethnic discrimination has emerged as a factor that may influence the experience of chronic pain in this population. Identifying modifiable psychosocial factors that influence the link between perceived discrimination and pain and that can be directly targeted in treatment is vital to reducing the disproportionate burden of CMP among Black individuals. The present study examines the moderating role of five risk factors

Labour's pain: strenuous subsistence work, mechanical wear-and-tear and musculoskeletal pain in a non-industrialized population.

Musculoskeletal pain is the most debilitating human health condition. Neurophysiological pain mechanisms are highly conserved and promote somatic maintenance and learning to avoid future harm. However, some chronic pain might be more common owing to mismatches between modern lifestyles and traits that originally evolved under distinct premodern conditions. To inform assumptions about factors affecting chronic pain vulnerability prior to industrialization, we assess pain prevalence, perceived causes, and predictors among Tsimane forager-horticulturalists. Habitual subsistence work is the primar

The person-centered hypothesis framework: Advancing clinical reasoning in musculoskeletal pain management.

INTRODUCTION: The Person-Centered Hypothesis (PCH) framework is a structured clinical reasoning model designed to enhance "in action" reasoning in person-centered care (PCC). The PCH integrates elements of the biopsychosocial model, pain phenotyping, and contextual factors, addressing gaps in real-time clinical decision-making. PURPOSE: To describe the proposed PCH framework that synthesizes four domains: dominant pain phenotype(s), relevant clinical patterns, regional and co-existing contributors, and psychosocial and lifestyle influencing factors. This masterclass outlines the clinical use

Health behaviours and work-related musculoskeletal pain among Polish physiotherapists and nurses.

BACKGROUND: Physiotherapists and nurses play crucial roles in healthcare, often requiring them to adopt physically demanding positions. However, these positions can lead to joint stress and an increased risk of injury, as well as work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs). These disorders can significantly impact the performance of their duties, which can negatively affect patient recovery. OBJECTIVE: This study assessed and compared health behaviour and work-related musculoskeletal pain among Polish physiotherapists and nurses. METHODS: The study encompassed a group of 304 participants

Discontinuation rates and predictors of Medical Cannabis cessation for chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Medical cannabis (MC) is increasingly used as a treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain, but there is limited data on factors influencing its discontinuation. This study aims to investigate the rates of MC discontinuation and explore factors influencing it in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 78 patients certified for medical cannabis over a 2 year period. Patient demographics, pain origin, and Global Physical Health (GPH) and Global Mental Health (GMH) scores were collected before intervention. Discontinuation rates were measured at three

Systematic review of clinical practice guidelines on acupuncture for chronic musculoskeletal pain.

INTRODUCTION: Acupuncture is increasingly utilised in primary care to manage chronic musculoskeletal pain, supported by a growing body of evidence. This rising adoption has driven demand for clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). We summarised the characteristics of recent acupuncture CPGs for osteoarthritis, low back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain, and critically appraised their methodological quality. METHODS: We searched nine databases to identify acupuncture CPGs published from January 2014 to November 2024. Eligible CPGs were required to be developed by guideline committees and to incl

Effectiveness of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Musculoskeletal Pain Syndromes: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Musculoskeletal pain syndromes (MPSs) represent a major cause of disability and reduced quality of life, and conventional therapeutic approaches often provide only partial or temporary relief. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) delivered as 100% oxygen at 1.3-2.5 ATA, has been proposed to modulate inflammatory processes and enhance tissue repair. This review evaluated the effectiveness of HBOT on pain, function, quality of life, and physiological outcomes in individuals with MPS. METHODS: This systematic review was conducted in different databases between June 30 and 30 September 20

Evaluation of serum Vitamin-D levels in non-specific chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Chronic non-specific musculoskeletal pain (CNMP) is a common condition, with recent studies suggesting a link to vitamin D deficiency. Therefore, it is of interest to measure serum vitamin D levels in CNMP patients and assesses its relationship to pain severity. Conducted over six months at a tertiary care center, 120 patients were enrolled and assessed for serum vitamin D levels and pain using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results revealed 70% of patients were vitamin D deficient, with lower levels correlating with higher pain scores. Thus, we show that addressing vitamin D deficiency may be

[Points of undenatured type II collagen application in musculoskeletal pain syndromes treatment].

The dominant collagen of the cartilaginous matrix in adults is type II collagen. The amount of type II collagen in the intercellular matrix of cartilage is significantly reduced against the background of musculoskeletal system diseases. The basis of articular cartilage is hyaline cartilage tissue consisting of chondrocytes with tissue-specific antigens that induce the production of antibodies in patients with osteoarthritis (OA). Today, new approaches are being considered in the treatment of OA with the use of udenatured type II collagen (UC-II). Such molecular mechanisms of action of UC-II as
